Here are the winners for the 2017 Golden Globes!

01.08.2017

Phew! Wow...ummm...yeah. That's it folks. 2016 has officially come to a close and I'm pretty sure a significant portion of Earth's human population is pretty damn happy about it. It was a very busy and eventful year for everyone, especially when it came to movies. From big comic book flicks to war films to small L.A. musicals, 2016 was full of incredible films of every genre. Almost to the point where it could again be difficult to pick a top winner for every category. However awards season is upon us and the 2017 Golden Globes are ready to announce the first winners as usual.

So because of that and by popular demand every year, our LIVE CHAT & TWITTER FEED is returning once again and we invite ANYBODY and EVERYBODY to join in on what is always a very entertaining time as movie fans come together to discuss the events as they happen. When the live chat window appears below this paragraph tonight, you can join in using your Facebook/Twitter accounts or just log in as a Guest if you'd prefer. Again everybody is welcome and I'll be updating this article and chatting with all of you throughout the entire event starting at 7:30pm EST (showtime at 8pm EST). As I also mentioned, our very own Editor-In-Chief Paul Shirey will be bringing you every moment as it happens during our LIVE TWITTER FEED @JoBlo Twitter page. So come join us for the show, discuss the winners, have some laughs and we look forward to seeing you there.

For the first time in pretty much ever I actually agree with most of their big six winners for film. Moonlight and La La Land for Best Picture, and Casey Affleck, Isabelle Huppert, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in the lead acting categories (although I would have been equally fine with Steinfeld or Farrell wining in the musical/comedy category).

To me, this year was kind of a crappy year for movies. There were only a few really good ones.

I agree with herelam

Fences was ok, at best. Acting was good but the story itself was boring. Not to mention the first 35 min of the movie was shit just listening to denzel talk. Like he directed the movie to hear himself talk. I haven't seen moonlight yet, so im sure i could be way off base... But i feel like this is the 18th movie made about the same topic. Oh my life is hard, I'm black, i grew up in ghetto, look at what i did to turn it around. It may be the best movie... I'll find out soon, but I'm tired of

You couldn't be more wrong sir. That movie is about WAY more than just that. If you are watching these types of movies and that's all you're getting from them then you aren't looking enough. I'm curious...the description you gave as to how so many movies deal with black people being poor in the ghetto as you say....what are these movies?

Exactly utrock, the "I had it so hard" story is so tiresome. There are poor white people, despite all this "privileged" talk being thrown around, who have had hard, debilitating lives growing up. But no matter how poor, sick, or debilitated a white person is, they will always be told "You;re white, you have nothing to moan about."

Ok e-fresh,
Sports: blind side, coach Carter
Based on true events: lean on me, pursuit of happiness, men of honor
Fictional: boyz n the hood, menace II society, hustle n flow, dope and even the new fences.
I'm just saying the same under tone is there in all these movies. While some may be great movies... Others are dull and seem repetitive. I could list more, but some may be stretching it a little.
But like i said, i have not seen it yet and plan to. I could be wrong, but when i first

My last pay check was $8500 working 1o hours a week online. My younger brother friend has been averaging 12k for months now and he works about 20 hours a week. I cant believe how easy it was once I tried it out.

Is it just me

Or did it seem like black people winning feel a little forced because of the "Oscars so white" backlash from last year? And Donald glover annoys the shit out of me. And looking at black twitter at all the downtalk to white people just made it more ridiculous.

Yes you are right about that. I should have made that exception in my comment. I'm also annoyed that I wrote consecutive sentences starting with the word "And."

No. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but not Downton Abbey good, and nowhere near the level of something like The Americans or Rectify (neither of which were even nominated).

Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Golden Globe nomination had been a surprise. Not only has his name barely been seen throughout this award season, but his NOCTURNAL ANIMALS co-star Michael Shannon has received more nominations. Since the other nominees are bigger Oscar frontrunners, nobody expected him to win tonight... but he did! Isabelle Huppert has won other awards for ELLE, but I didn't feel that she was leading the race. Aside from those two, there weren't really other surprises in the film

I think that Jimmy Fallon's best assets are his impressions. This type of show doesn't allow him to be completely disguised, which is a shame. Well, he told some good jokes.

My favorite part of the night was when Viola Davis presented Meryl Streep with the Cecil B. DeMille Award. It started as the weirdest speech of the night and it became the most touching speech of the night.

The thing that pisses me off is that they have Musical and Comedy paired up. Movies like Deadpool are getting robbed due to musicals. They need to be separate entities when doing awards.

I agree. Because of this, many dramatic musicals have won and it has felt like a default win. How can comedies compete against them?

I didn't notice it earlier: Why the fuck FINDING DORY didn't get nominated in Animation??

Seriously, this was like one of the most beautiful and heartwarming thing I've seen last year, instant classic Pixar just like Finding Nemo all those years ago, and it didn't even get a nomination?! Zootopia was great, sure, I enjoyed it very much, and outside of FD this deserves to win... But damn.

And I have to say GoT got snubbed. This was it's best season, hands down.

Great to see my favorite Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston got their deserving wins. NIGHT MANAGER was awesome.

Very happy to have seen La La Land win every category it was nominated for. An instant classic, and without a doubt my favorite film of the year.

Hacksaw Ridge deserves to win in all it's nominated categories. And why didn't Westworld get any Actor nods?

As long as Arrival doesn't get any awards all is good.
La la Land and Moonlight deserve any awards thrown at them. Amazing film. I never want to see it again as I am not a masochist, but amazing film in every way shape and form.
La la land is an instant classic and if it was up to me it would take best picture.

I Love director Denis Vell.. but Arrival is just terrible storytelling and worst of all a huge bore. So I agree with you, it's just not a good movie.
