London Has Fallen Goes Boom October 2015; Gerard Butler Set to Return

05.01.2014

The upcoming sequel for the Antoine Fuqua-directed OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN now has an official release date and storyline. LONDON HAS FALLEN will also see the return of Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart in their respective roles as ass-kicker and President of the U.S.A.  The good news is that it sounds just as crazy as its predecessor so you know it's going to be messy!

No director is assigned to the sequel at this time and there is no official word on whether Radha Mitchell, Angela Bassett or Morgan Freeman will reprise their roles.

Check out the synopsis:

The sequel begins in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable secret service head (Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.

I didn't think Olympus was as batshit as the other "White House is on fire!" movie WHITE HOUSE DOWN, but it definitely stretched the realm of reality a few times. That’s all good for watching a movie where the only purpose is to entertain, and at the end of the day, I was entertained. What do you guys think, are you ready for some noise in London?

LONDON HAS FALLEN plans to drops nationwide on October 2, 2015.

Extra Tidbit: Oh, hi there, Radha Mitchell.

I was surprised that I enjoyed the first one, I thought Butler came across as a believable one man Army and got a kick out of the number of people he stabbed through the head. Hopefully they have put more thought into this than Taken 2,but we can't be surprised any more... Movies are made to make money, and if a formula works they will just keep repeating it.

Thumbs Up for sequel, Thumbs Down for the grammar/syntax in the article. I'm not one of "those" guys, but wow...

Honestly, I enjoyed both White House movies immensely. I think I favour Butler's more because it wasn't played for laughs...though the funny bits in Tatum's movie were funny...and who can resist the cheesy ending with Tatum's daughter saving everyone.

Interesting premise but feels totally unnecessary. Yes I loved the first one for what it was but this feels like some desperate attempt at a cash-grab.

Anyways i'm keeping an open mind for now and I'm sure there'll be a climatic action piece on the London - eye or Big Ben with a possible one-liner along the lines of 'Your time has run out' before tossing the baddie out or 'Enjoy your fall.....down' if its the London bridge.

I could be interesting if the MI-6 agent is be played by Martin

I could be interesting if the MI-6 agent is be played by Martin Sheen. Y'know since he once played Tony Blair ;)

Since 300, it's been Gerard Butler's box office draw that has fallen, big pass on this one.

First off: I LOVE that this sequel is happening. Olympus Has Fallen was so much fun. For directors, since Fuqua is out, I'm thinking Pete Travis of Dredd 3D and Vantage Point. Or, if we're going for a name: Peter Berg

the british prime minister will be revealed to be alive in the mid-point of the film, and he had to fake his death to find a mole in the parliament.

Calling it now.

I'm glad we're getting a straight-up action franchise along the lines of Die Hard, where the market is dominated by superheroes and CGI characters.

hell ya!

I'm definitely down for this! Butler kicked ass the first one. I pray it tries to stay away from the Cgi it's predecessor had though.. the opening action sequence was so terrible with the planes. Some of the worst cgi I've ever seen. Stick to the close quarter shootouts and hand to hand combat please!

Really enjoyed the first film a lot and it was head and shoulders better than that other white house movie. In fact, I'd go so far as saying OHF is the best R Rated balls to the wall action flick to come out of a studio in quite a few years. Hoping they keep that intensity for the sequel!

Nice! We both used the word intensity to describe the film in tandem. I think its a word that fits!

The plot actually sounds good. However, this is another lost opportunity for Die Hard. Please don't let Die Hard ends with A Good Day to Die Hard. Please.

I'm actually excited to see another installment. I totally agree that it was much better than White House Down. I love these throwback films that take us back to the Stallone and Schwarzenegger era.

They arrive immediately following the events of GI JOE Retaliation to discover there's no more London to speak of.
