Quantcast

Longest production ever

Richard Linklater used to direct movies like SLACKER and DAZED AND CONFUSED.  Somewhere along the line, he veered off that course and his "serious artist" side took over culminating in last year's trippy and bizarre WAKING LIFE.   Straying even further from the norm (which don't get me wrong, isn't necessarily a bad thing), Linklater will begin production on another experimental film this summer.   What's so experimental about it you ask?  It's going to take twelve years to film.  That's right - TWELVE YEARS.  The film, which will star Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette, will film for a few weeks every year for the next 12 years.   The idea behind it is to capture a boy's life with his parents from 1st to 12th grade.  Seven-year-old actor Eller Salmon has been cast as the young boy in the film.   Look for the film to be released sometime in oh......2015.
