Finally Denzel Washington is a badass again! This first look at the Hughes Brothers post-apocalyptic THE BOOK OF ELI shows Denzel as a lone man who battles his way across a devastated America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. Gary Oldman will be his foil, and Mila Kunis, Jennifer Beals and Ray Stevenson have roles as well. Denzel's been in some softies as of late, so hopefully this will be a return to his training days. He's definitely not reaching into his pocket for a banana!

Extra Tidbit:	THE BOOK OF ELI hits theaters on January 15th 2010.

Not a Hughes Bros. fan

but Denzel "On Fire" Washington versus Gary "insert kickass role" Oldman in post-apocalyptic turmoil is pretty much the equation for greatness. Throw in Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and that MILF from Flashdance and I'm close to booking a whole theater to jizz into cometh 2010.

Frank Lucas in American Gangster was a softie? Really??? I never knew a drug king pin, "Godfather" type of guy was considered a softie.....uh. I wonder what if the real Frank thinks Denzel played him as a softie.

This film has an amazing screenplay with a great twist. Funny, the twist is right there in the above photo, in plain sight.

Taken was kind of a fluke, you usually don't see that in January, with the exception of that and maybe Cloverfield (which I don't think crossed a hundred mill).

With how well Taken did in this same release spot just last monthe, i'd figure this is gonna be a hit and im hyped for it. Plus i love me some gary oldman villians.
