Look at the Owl Ship

07.23.2008

MTV have your first look at statues of Dr. Manhattan and the Owl Ship from the upcoming movie WATCHMEN. In the movie when an ex-superhero is murdered, a vigilante named Rorshach (Jackie Earle Haley) begins an investigation into the murder, which begins to lead to a much more terrifying conclusion.

In related news, Warner Bros. is apparently already banking hard on this movie being a major success. Which makes sense. Granted, all that they've released to us so far is the trailer, but if I was in room where that was looping on an IMAX screen and next to it was Megan Fox butt naked... Well yeah I'd probably check Fox out, but ten years down the line if I were to look back and try to figure out if I made the right choice there, who knows what conclusion I would come to.
Extra Tidbit: Darren Aronofsky was going to direct this movie but dropped out after scheduling conflicts with THE FOUNTAIN. Ponder!

Looks Good cross fingers

I agree with the comments below from bretchsky, about being wary of Z-Synder and the style vs substance. Dawn of the Dead was a 5 out of 10 for a movie and as for a remake a 3.
The saving grace for the Watchmen is that the source material so freaking good, it would take some one of Uwe Boll's "talents" to really screw it up.
The trailer and from what I have heard from the ppl involved on the Watchmen, I think he is going to hit a 8 or 9 out of 10 with it. No final conclusion though until

It really does look like Wall-E's face. I'll be damned...

I'm getting further and further psyched for this movie. I'm placing it up there with my build-up mentality that I had for Iron Man and Dark Knight. I'm seriously banking on it kicking major boo-tay next year.

I seriously just wrote 'boo-tay', didn't I?

Remake

Gosh, Day of the Dead...cheesy....that shouldn't have been touched...
Dawn of the Dead was great...Jake Weber was awesome...
The extended cut goes into a bit more depth I think on character development during the dinner scene...

Zack Snyder is a great director...

yeah, i thought the Dawn remake was good too, but anyway, i think Warner is making the right call banking on Watchmen, it was the only trailer when i went to see TDK that had most of the audience taking, making them interested and it just plain looked awesome.

HAHA

Yeah let's go into the deep thoughts of how a zombie movie should deep and personal, maybe even change the way you feel about life. UGH or we'll all just agree it was a good zombie movie.
I've seen the first movie and I enjoyed it. Honestly though for some one how says the character were "hardly developed" is kind of stupid considering half of the first movie was people running around a mall PUNCHING ZOMBIES.
Do your self a favor and go watch the new Day of the Dead, then you'll see no

dawn of the dead

hmm, guess i was wrong, maybe the majority did like it -- but I've never talked to anyone in person who liked it more than so-so, and I'd love to hear a cogent argument as to why its any good, especially compared to the original... it adds too many new characters, almost all of which are hardly developed at all and don't grow at all, the main character is your typical damsel-in-distress with nothing going on upstairs whose character has literally no personal story or growth after the opening

Im sure I could dcome up with more given time, but thats off the top of my head...in my opinion it was a pathetic remake of a classicly-loved film, and probably the best zombie film of all-time...

style - yes, substance- no.

and Im not saying im not looking forward to watchmen, just that saying aronofsky wouldnt have done as well as snyder is like saying fincher wouldnt have done as well as schumacher if he'd taken over for him on batman... one makes brilliant films, the other makes popcorn.

and mokalok, thanks for the name-calling, and I hope you realize after reading this that you were wrong, or you don't know the definition of the word idiot, because I am clearly not one.

edit: one more thing i just remembered, I did really like the addition of the guy and the gun shop across the way ... all those scenes with ving and him, and the later effort to help him, were all good additions in my book... so Im not just trying to hate on it, I hope you know... I mean, Ive seen it at least four times by now, so im not trying to say its like norbit or anything.

Anyone who says that the Dawn of the Dead remake was crap is crazy. That is one of the few remakes that is worth watching a few times.

I think that this Watchmen movie is going to be the BOMB! Can't wait!!!

... remember snyder is the man who screwed up a dawn of the dead remake, which is almost impossible to do... zombies + malls = awesome

What are you talking about? You state that like its fact. Dawn of the dead remake was 77% positve by critics at RT and 85% positive by regular people. The movie also made $102 Million worldwide vs a production budget of $26 million (boxofficemojo).

So i think you are in the very small percentage of idiots that says snyder

snyder

not sure if arronofsky wouldn't have been better, despite the fact he wanted to change the time period...

... remember snyder is the man who screwed up a dawn of the dead remake, which is almost impossible to do... zombies + malls = awesome

He's got too much style and not enough substance and even though its a much beloved graphic novel, simply copying the source isn't necessarily the right choice in all situations....

its just hard to disrespect aronofsky in favor of snyder, i think.

Aronofsky

Honestly, I love Aronofsky, but his version of Watchmen wouldn't have been good. He wanted to bring it forward from the alternate universe 1985 and make it set in the present. It just wouldn't have worked. I'm glad that Zack Snyder decided to stay true to the source material.
