Lost in Space first look finds the Robinson family prepping for blastoff

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Any of you sci-fi aficionados out there are likely familiar with the television classic LOST IN SPACE, which found the Robinson family getting into tons of space adventures, spawning the quote “Danger, Will Robinson!” Ah, fun times indeed. Now the show is getting an expensive-looking remake from Netflix, and the first teaser for the show is here, showing the family doing a sweet, slo-mo walk to their ship, with the young Will Robinson (Maxwell Jenkins) looking very nervous. Don’t worry, Will, everything will be fine this time around.

Here is the show’s synopsis:

Lost in Space is a Netflix Original dramatic and modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series. Set 30 years in the future, colonization in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, light-years from their original destination. Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders who find themselves thrown together by circumstance and a mutual knack for deception. The unsettlingly charismatic Dr. Smith (Parker Posey) is a master manipulator with an inscrutable end game. And the roguish, but inadvertently charming Don West (Ignacio Serricchio) is a highly-skilled, blue collar contractor, who had no intention of joining the colony, let alone crash landing on a lost planet.

You can also get a look at several new images from the show, all of which find the crew in dire situations.

This is a very early look but so far I'm liking what I'm seeing. There's a Spielbergian quality to the footage, particularly because of the music. Some people would probably rather do without a remake of the classic show, but it's been long enough where anything this show does will make the material seem fresh. Plenty more footage will come out, and that's plenty more opportunities to see what this new show has in store.

LOST IN SPACE debuts April 13.
