Lou Ferrigno again says Hulk solo movie coming after Avengers: Age of Ultron

May. 2, 2014by: Jesse Giroux

Last year Lou Ferrigno said we should expect a solo Hulk movie after AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, and in a new interview with a local radio station in Minnesota, the actor again said Marvel is planning on a new Hulk flick.

Ferrigno starts by talking about how Mark Ruffalo's Hulk was the "star of the movie" in THE AVENGERS who "saved the day," before saying, "Now because he saved the day they're making another solo Hulk movie after the second Avengers comes out."

We are probably going to get a new Hulk film eventually, but the question is when? Will the next movie be part of Marvel's Phase Three films, or will we have to wait until Phase Four? And does Lou Ferrigno know something we don't, or is he just assuming Marvel will be developing another Hulk movie to be released after AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON?

One of the big reasons why we are talking about a potential new Hulk movie is because of Mark Ruffalo's take on the character (who we just recently learned is working with Andy Serkis to perfect the Hulk) in THE AVENGERS, and since Bruce Banner and Hulk will apparently get to do great stuff in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, I wouldn't be surprised if HULK 2 ends up being one of Marvel's Phase Three films.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON will open on May 1st, 2015.

Will genre sites stop acting like Lou has anything valid to do with the Hulk anymore?

Jeez, it's as bad as people talking to Adam West about Batman in Batman Vs. Superman. Talk to Mark Ruffalo, he is the guy playing Banner and the Hulk now. Lou's involvement is a sound on a sampler mixing board. Love the Hulk, but I know he is not a valid source on Hulk sequel news, he isn't an insider.

C'Mon, Hollywood...

Don't make Lou Ferrigno a liar. Give us a new Hulk movie.

What?

I can't believe someone interviewed Lou Ferrigno and he spoke about The Hulk. He never does that.

I'm not convinced solo Hulk movies can work, I think the reason the best movie incarnation of Hulk was The Avengers was because he wasn't the main character, sure he could pop up here and there and do something awesome, but a character needs personality and I think that is difficult to get across with Hulk. Sure the movies could be 70% Bruce Banner but I don't think I could watch an hour of Ruphalo moping.

I totally agree. He should be used like the shark in JAWS; sparingly but to great effect. Without the context of other characters the audience has no frame of reference for how powerful he is vs. other superheroes. That's what The Avengers understood and nailed.

Yeah, he totally didn't work the previous $300+ million earning films. And it's not like he was a preferred scene stealer in Avengers.

Yes, please! Ruffalo is the man and he NEEDS to have his own Hulk film. No idea if Ferrigno is just assuming or if he knows something we don't, but I'm going to remain optimistic and assume it's the latter.

Planet Hulk for part 2, then World War Hulk for part 3. It'd be awesome! They'd better bring back William Hurt, Liv Tyler, Ty Burrell and/or Tim Blake Nelson in some fashion...

Hulk smash

I think it's time for Banner to be able to control the hulk. Maybe not full on talking but I don't want to see another hulk movie where he fights the military.

I kinda got the feeling from what Samuel Sterns did to him in Incredible Hulk and the ending of that flick that now he can kinda control the monster. This was reaffirmed for me in Avengers when he said that's what his secret was.

He still tried to kill black widow and gave Thor a couple bruises. But I'll give you that, he can turn it on and knows what are greater threats.

When his eyes went green at the end of The Incredible Hulk I figured that was them telling us he could control it. The stuff on the Helicarrier was under Lokis influence wasn't it?

As soon as Loki and Banner saw each other Banner started rubbing his head. But I don't know if the hulk out was caused by Loki or the explosion. And at the end he did save Tony from the fall. It will be interesting to see how much control he has in age of ultron.

Planet Hulk

If the Hulkbuster is appearing in Age of Ultron, it has to be because Big Green gets too smash-happy. Also, someone had pointed out that the Guardians of the Galaxy might've featured the Sakaaran race from "Planet Hulk". Plus figure how Marvel said that there's generally not much for Hulk to do in a standalone feature, as he's not a hero so much as a monster. "Planet Hulk" would be an epic arc leading into the third Avengers film.

I'm agreeing with Mr. Voorhees. It makes no sense that Marvel would keep Lou Ferrigno in the loop. This kind of news is probably "need to know only". I think Ferrigno is guessing, and he might be right b/c if the Hulk's popularity continues to grow next year in Age of Ultron, I'm willing to bet they take another shot at it. If they do, they will probably cast a lesser Avenger to make it as sure of a thing as they can.

IIRC, Lou Ferrigno is still the voice of the Hulk in the new movies, so he'd certainly be in the loop for any upcoming films. Hopefully he wasn't speaking out of turn here.

I would love for this to be true but seriously what does Lou Ferrigno know? Why would Disney/Marvel keep him In the loop

I wouldn't know how much Ferrigno is actually being kept in the loop but a Hulk solo movie with Ruffalo would be great. It's pretty interesting because a fair number of actors have played Banner and I don't think any one of them was bad in the part.

I hope we get to see another solo Hulk film soon. I don't know how much longer I can wait to see the big green guy kick ass again after not seeing practically the guy at all since the end credits of Iron Man 3. I know he'll be in Age of Ultron and have a huge part, but a sequel HAS to be coming considering how popular the character is and how great Ruffalo plays Banner.
