Josh Lucas has signed on to star in a modern retelling of Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart” with Ridley and Tony Scott producing. TELL-TALE will star Lucas as a single father who was the recent recipient of a heart transplant and goes on a frantic search to find the original owner before the donor’s killer finds him. So wait… The killer is still hearing the heart beat in another guy’s chest? I don’t get it. The plot of the story was that a guy killed another guy and buried his body under the floorboards only to be driven insane by hallucinations that he could still hear the heart beating. What does that have to do with this? This is more like THE EYE than “The Tell-Tale Heart.” Perhaps there’s something we don’t know though. Michael Cuesta (“Dexter,” “Six Feet Under”) will direct the film from a script by Dave Callaham (DOOM). Lucas had a pretty hot run for a while but hit a cold streak recently with STEALTH, GLORY ROAD and POSEIDON. He can be seen next in the indie drama DEATH IN LOVE.
