With the THOR movies, THE AVENGERS, and INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE, it has been established that Hemsworth brothers Chris and Liam are capable of handling encounters with extraterrestrials, and now their older brother Luke Hemsworth, who you may know from the HBO series Westworld, has signed up to have a close encounter of his own.

Luke Hemsworth's alien experience will come in the appropriately titled ENCOUNTER, the feature directorial debut of Paul J. Salamoff, a veteran makeup FX artist.

Written by Salamoff and inspired by the classic anthology series The Twilight Zone, ENCOUNTER centers on

a group of friends making a remarkable discovery in a rural field — a crashed spacecraft with  a survivor. When they bring the otherworldly being home, they soon discover that it holds even greater secrets than they could imagine. But with the government on their tail, time is running out to ascertain the alien’s true intentions.

The Beyond Casual Media production is expected to start filming in Georgia this August. Hemsworth is joined in the cast by Anna Hutchison (pictured below), Glenn Keogh, Vincent M. Ward, Cheryl Texiera, Christopher Showerman, and the legendary Tom Atkins (THE FOG, HALLOWEEN III, NIGHT OF THE CREEPS, etc.)

Salamoff had this to say about the project:

The world of ‘Encounter’ is a nod back to classic sci-fi movies of the ’70s and ’80s. Its fresh approach offers a new twist on science fiction’s strengths of exploring very human themes of loss, grief in an unexpected and thought-provoking way."

I'm in.
