Mage loses director

05.31.2002

Comic fans worldwide rejoiced when it was announced the popular book MAGE would be heading to the big screen with director F. Gary Gray (THE NEGOTIATOR) behind the camera.  Today those same fans are hanging their heads low.  Comics2Film reported and FilmForce confirmed that Gray has left the production to instead begin work on the Mark Wahlberg/Charlize Theron heist film (Great!  Another heist film!!) THE ITALIAN JOB.   While the script has been given the greenlight by Disney, the production is now back to square one, stuck searching for a new director as well as a cast.  For the unaware, MAGE is based on a popular graphic novel by Matt Wagner.
