Maggie Gyllenhaal has signed on to replace Toni Collette in the upcoming comedy Sam Mendes is directing for Focus Features. Collette was forced to drop out after shooting delays pushed back the schedule. Gyllenhaal joins John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph in the film about a young couple who go searching for the perfect home in anticipation of their first baby. She will play a “bohemian college professor” who was an old friend of Krasinski’s character. Gyllenhaal herself recently pulled out of a project, leaving THE PRIVATE LIVES OF PIPPA LEE to be replaced by Maria Bello. The script was the first original screenplay written by author Dave Eggers who wrote with his wife Vendela Vida. Krasinski and crew are currently filming in Connecticut where Gyllenhaal will join up in about a week. You might have heard a little something about Gyllenhaal’s upcoming project THE DARK KNIGHT. Of course I’d love to be able to link you to the new trailer for that film but it’s not online yet and the copy we did have was removed under threat of stoning.
