Magneto was part of the conspiracy to kill JFK according to a viral site for X-Men: Days of Future Past

11.25.2013

We recently passed the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination, and there seems to be something we missed according to a new viral site for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

While we were all concentrating on Lee Harvey Oswald and government conspiracies, we neglected to notice that Magneto was there on the grassy knoll. The site titled "The Bent Bullet" details Magneto's plot to kill JFK through a fictional experience of photos, videos, and theories. The idea is that the second shot fired by Oswald was redirected by Magneto effectively bringing the presidents end.

You can check it all out here for yourself. Below is the video within the site:

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST hits theaters on May 23, 2014.

I love seeing the double standard here. People eat this shit up if it has something to do with 9/11. I find it offensive in both cases, but don't get all pissy about this yet say nothing when people make fun of 9/11 or other tragedies.

Looks like people are back in forth on this video. i think its a clever marketing ploy and of course its completely fiction. I can understand why it may bother some people but the "too soon" card can no longer be pulled.

Best "Magic Bullet" explanation ever!!!!!

This is hands down the best explanation for the ridiculous "Magic Bullet Theory". I would believe the theory if Magneto was indeed behind killing Kennedy.

This isn't a big deal

I mean c'mon, this is the country that made two Hollywood movies about the World Trade Center before even a single brick was placed toward an actual new building. Right or wrong, this is kinda how we do. And as a Kennedy buff I love the Magneto idea and I'm glad this made it from the rumor phase back during the First Class release days to the final sequel product. And I'ma be PISSED if people complain and this gets taken out of the movie. I hate when that happens.
But yeah, as moonrider so

I agree that this is bad taste...

But mostly because this video was released at a time that coincides with JFK's death... Otherwise, I think some people should loosen up a bit. We've had films that've twisted reality before... The first film for example. It gave us a creative twist on the Cuban Missile Crisis. I understand why this may be a touchier subject to some people, but I don't see this kind of outcry against Holocaust films, or films that depict slavery... I actually applaud the creativity used here. Taking the

But no less interesting or creative.

Nice Tie-in to Historical Events

How anyone can be upset by this link to real events is beyond me. Kennedy's assassination happened before most of the viewers on this site were born. It's apparently OK to portray any other violent crime in history except this particular event.
Good marketing and good writing, IMO. I look forward to seeing this movie.

I do like the idea...but can it be done as well as one very classic episode of Red Dwarf. Years old...but I still won't spoil it for those that have not seen it - makes perfect sense! ;o) [link] The clip misses the lol planning scenes but always loved the ending. It takes a special writer to make a top class comedy but add an extremely emotional scene to it (Happy Days was good at that kind of stuff too).

So I like the idea and all, but how does that explain that magneto in the first X-Men movie was a complete unknown? I mean if this happened to him in the past than he would have been famous and every one would recognize his face right, am I missing something?

On the viral website it says they had a secret trial for Magneto, then put him in the first phase of the plastic prison 1320 feet below. So perhaps the government will deny knowing the existence of mutants when in fact they do.

First of all, one of your founding fathers have been portrayed as a vampire hunter with literally an ax to grind, and nobody bats an eye.

Secondly, everybody knows that The Comedian did it.

Uhhhmm…

Okay, as much as I was and still am looking forward to this movie…. WTF, Fox? Really? Really??? Most of the people starring in this movie weren't even around to witness one of the most horrific murders in history. That doesn't mean people 50 and above won't remember it and feel extremely uncomfortable by this advertising method. I understand FIRST CLASS had the Holocaust scenes, but they didn't use it as a viral campaign for the film. I would laugh if I wasn't so disgusted by the lengths they

Absolutely Tasteless...

Fan of the movie, fan of the actor and and European but i consider this tasteless and I find it hard to understand how can anyone defend it talking about other movies that took advantage of real events and distorted them on its storyline because this particular event is very personal and focused on one single individual. For an instance, some people may not like movies using the holocaust as a plot device but they can deal fine with it unless they talk about their relatives specifically and

For an instance, some people may not like movies using the holocaust as a plot device but they can deal fine with it unless they talk about their relatives specifically and that is only acceptable in a documentary or a movie faithful to real events. JFK was shot next to his wife with his kids watching at home and his family as well, the event is Kennedy and his family, pure and simple and it shouldn't be used like this. As for the guy talking about "Inglorious Bastards" I just hope he didn't really compared some of the greatest murderers in the history of humanity who deserve nothing from the rest of the world with the murdered president of the USA. For the guys still in doubt about their opinion go and watch the video of the assassination when the third shot hits JFK's head when Jackie was trying to see what was happening with her husband after the second shot and if you still think this is not tasteless after that then I am just sorry for you.

Seriously, you people feel that its tasteless to take a real event in history and use it as a plot device for a movie. Is this the first time any of you ever seen a movie? Seriously, How many films have came out over the years that use a real historic event as a plot device, these are some real events that were used to help a story along in a movie - JFK assassination, the Holocast, Pearl Harbor, Chenobyl, The Andes Survivors (from the Alive movie), Slavery, Movies based off real serial

Maybe it's because I'm Canadian, but...

...Jesus Christ, are people really offended by this? It's already been mentioned, but if you're going to complain about "cashing in" on the anniversary, tell that to the television networks that have been advertising 56 different specials and/or documentaries in an effort to gain ratings for the last two months. The fact that they put this out close to the anniversary is genius, in my opinion, as it actually does come off like one of the aforementioned TV specials (and looks more interesting

Fuck's sake; yes, it was tragic, but the reaction to this just goes to show how overly sensitive and easily offended society has become.

And has anyone read the website? It's actually rather cleverly done; I got a chuckle out of the "Oswald double" conspiracy theory (subtle nod to Mystique, I assume).

Should we also all be offended by the 'ending' of "Inglorious Basterds" ?

Man...Fassbender just can't win.

Get over it. It's a historical event re-purposed to fit a fictional narrative of a simple movie.

...A MOVIE! Anniversary or no. It's not 'that' bad.

If it wasn't his anniversary, it wouldn't be offensive, but the studio is clearly exploiting his death by doing this during his anniversary. watchman didn't do it like that. First of all, I'm not angry and gonna boycott the film bc of it, but do you really not see the difference?

I think Matthew Vaughn mentioned that he would open the sequel with Magneto curving the magic bullet back when First Class was released. I'm feeling equal parts "interesting idea" and "that's in bad taste, man", particularly just after the 50th anniversary of the tragedy. I will admit to being intrigued after first hearing about this potential movie opening, but it is important to note that the assassination of JFK has become so etched into popular culture that we often forget to take a step

No one complained about the Comedian being revealed as the second shooter on the grassy knoll in Watchmen. so why bitch about Magneto "bending the bullet" in DoFP?
