Moonlight’s Mahershala Ali joins Lord and Miller’s animated Spider-Man film

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

While it's super disappointing that CLONE HIGH's Chris Miller and Phil Lord were fired from HAN SOLO (leaving behind the last shred of interest I had in that film), at least they're not going to be gone for long. They are still involved with writing and producing Sony's upcoming animated SPIDER-MAN film focusing on Miles Morales, which is to be directed by Bob Persichetti (The Little Prince) and Peter Ramsey (Rise of the Guardians). And it has just received two new cast members!

Joining the previously cast Shameik Moore as Morales and Liev Schreiber as the as-of-yet unknown baddie are MOONLIGHT's Mahershala Ali and ATLANTA's Brian Tyree Henry. According to sources close to Tracking Board:

Henry will voice Miles’ detective father, Jefferson Davis, while Ali will voice the larger role of Miles’ uncle, Aaron Davis, who loves his nephew but operates on the wrong side of the law [as the master thief Prowler].

To be fair, I don't know much about Miles Morales, but I'm definitely interested to find out more. And, with Lord and Miller involved (no matter how tangentially), that certainly bodes well for its quality. But what do you Schmoes think? Sound off below!

Meanwhile the animated film is scheduled to swing into theaters December 14th, 2018.
