MAJOR spoiler for The Walking Dead revealed in blu ray announcement

03.02.2012

Yesterday, the AMC website featured an ad for season 2 of THE WALKING DEAD, complete with a MAJOR spoiler in the description. Fans of the comic will have no trouble figuring it out and show-only viewers will no doubt have heard the rumblings by now.

However, if you wish to remain spoiler free, then DO NOT proceed beyond the zombie.

Okay, you're still here.

So, check out the image below, which is a screencap from the AMC website.

Yes, you read that right.

…bonus features such as: the making of the barn, an extended zombie gut scene, Shane’s last episode

The post has since been removed and an AMC spokesperson has released this statement: “The post on the AMC store was completely unauthorized. The matter is currently under investigation.”

I'm sure some speculation may come that perhaps Shane just leaves the group to venture out on his own.  I suppose that's possible, but I seriously doubt it.  Fans of the comic have been waiting for his demise since season one.  Creator Robert Kirkman has given the character of Shane one hell of a lease on life with the TV show and has certainly veered from the comic in many ways, especially when it comes to characters, so you just never truly know anyone's fate.

There's only a few episodes left, so we'll know the outcome very shortly.

THE WALKING DEAD is on AMC, Sundays at 9/8c

Extra Tidbit: With the news of The Governor being released, I'm still waiting on some news for Michonne. What gives?

I mean, anyone who's read the first volume of the graphic novels knew this was coming.

People by now must live in a box if they don't know that Shane dies. Its just a matter of how now thats the only mystery.

Has they followed the comics, Shane would have been dead a while ago. Since they decided not to go that route and kept him around, it sucks to see him go now since he's become the most interesting character on the show.

I knew it would come!

I read the comics before the TV show & loved them. I also love the TV show & I like what they did with Shane but they could also have included the massive character that is Tyress.

I also wanted to see the prison story arc on the TV show but that prob won't happen either.

Shane dies he won't go off on a wander!

I stood up

And cheered this news! 'Bout time! Better kill him the way he died in the comics though.

It was easy enough to guess at this. With Jon moving onto another project and The Governor making his appearance next season, it almost seemed kind of obvious. Take into account his character progression, and it all adds up. I can't see him going the same way as the comic though. He's been around for two seasons, a lot longer than he should have been. They will probably drag out his death. And anyone complaining about this season being weak, well The Governor should change all of that. I

Having never read the comics before, I have to say that I enjoy this show. I understand how people can and will be indifferent to the ideas that they're going with, but if you hadn't touched the comics ever, wouldn't you say that this is a pretty good show? Sure, some of it does drag along at points, but that's part of the dramatic presence they're trying to create here. I'm very curious to see who these characters 'Michonne & Abraham' are after reading everyone's comments below.

Besides, has anyone EVER seen a truly perfect book to screen adaptation?? (Well, aside from Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas)....

Finally!!!!

It would be awesome if Michonne was the person wandering around in the grass that Shane saw. Just a thought, considering Michonne is f*cked in the head when we first meet her. Here is to hoping that we see Michonne soon!! And bring on Abraham! He is bad ass!

I thought it was obvious that was just a zombie walking in the field, but hey, what do I know.

What a load of shit!

WTF???? So now they want to off Shane? Instead of the actual way/reason he's offed in the comic? These fuckers said that the reason he didn't die in the first season was because they wanted him to be around for other things and effectively ditched Tyress, his daughter and her boyfriend and thrown Shane in his place. But NOW they want to kill him off? WHAT WAS THE FUCKING POINT!!!!!!

Im sry but this show is just fucking garbage and the ppl behind it are complete idiots. The first episode was

Im sry but this show is just fucking garbage and the ppl behind it are complete idiots. The first episode was the only real adaption of any issue of the comic. Every other episode is filled with maybe 5 min of what happens in the comic then you get 50 min of bull shit filler. But now it seems that the fan backlash on changing so much is making them scramble to try and get back to the actual story they have been failing to adapt for a season and a half now.

They've fucked this project up beyond repair and its really sad cause it had so much potential to bring some crazy zombie shit to the small screen. I knew something was a miss with the first season, too many characters missing or just plain differnt, too much filler that never happened in the comics, Shane surviving the first season and its only fallen further apart since then.

Sry but the state this show has fallen into and the obvious mad scramble to try and fix it really really really irks me. You konw, if you hadn't figured that out yet, lol :P

i agree i feel this season suffered by rushing to get back to being cloe to the comics, but if handled properly could've been fine being different or even a better progression to get close to the comics.

Exactly, they've stumbled on what it is they want to do and now its fucking everything up. If they wanted to go a different route from the comics thats fine, i might not like it as much but i would be able to appreciate it for what it was. But now they are just taking the Resident Evil route and trying to throw anything they can from the actual story they are adapting in an effort to keep ppl interested. Garbage.

actually kirkham has said he rushed things in the first few issues of walking dead because he didnt know how long the series would last, and that if he could do it again shane would have lived much longer. Theyre really just making the tv show closer to the original vision of the comic.

The first couple of issues are rather thin for sure and i don't doubt he would like to have beefed up those issues in hindsight but hats not hte same as the drastic changes they've made, even in the first season. I'm not talking aobut adding a bit of content or changing minor things i'm talking about major characters not in the show and major plot points being disregarded or in danger of being completely disregarded.

You're going WAY overboard if you're comparing this to the RE movies. Sure, it's not like the comic but very few things stay that faithful to the source material, nowadays. And just because it does stray, doesn't make it a bad thing. The only thing RE got right was a few names. At least Walking Dead tells a damm good story. If you want to be pissed off about something, I can give you a list of movies that completely fukked graphic novels, books and/or video games.

The RE franchise. (First was a decent movie but the rest?)
The Watchmen - Like so many movies, the overall body of work was great but completely ruined by the POS ending.
Xmen origins: Wolverine - Adamantium bullets? Really?
Aliens VS Predator - The worst graphic novel butchery of all time.
The Stand - Ugh. (Worst mini-series of all time)
Silent Hill - Pretty decent movie but nothing like the games

The comparison is on the bases that like RE they decided at first to go in a different direction/not stay as close to the source material then when the fans backlashed they tried to tie back as much as possible in order to keep ppl interested. Same here. The varying degree's of which these or other properties stick to the source material is not the issue. The issue is they wanted to go one way (away from the source) then when they realized it wont make as much money they back tracked.

Totally agree on Michonne!

Been waiting on her since Rick got to Atlanta. Not sure what they're waiting for, but with most TV related things they're probably just drawing it out so they'll have something nice to introduce 3rd season. Because where they're at in the show right now happens in like the first few comics so they're taking their sweet time, but I'm not complaining, this show/comic is one of the best things to happen to zombies in a loooong time.

Well technically she hasn't shown up yet at this point in the story. Michonne doesn't appear until they get to the prison in the comics so to have her at this point wouldn't make sense aside from to just have her there.

Well, I'm guessing since we saw shots of the prison in the season trailer, her introduction or appearance may be the cliffhanger.
