Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (THE BOURNE IDENTITY, FASTER, THE THING, BULLET TO THE HEAD) is one of those actors whose presence in a project will almost flat-out guarantee that I see it. His Mr. Eko was one of the best characters on "Lost," and no matter what Akinnuoye-Agbaje does he always brings a life, energy, and gruff charm to his performance that I cannot help but be taken in by.

And true to tradition, that fact the he's now in THOR: THE DARK WORLD has bumped that movie up very high indeed on my list of most anticipated.  Not to mention the fact that he's playing a villain in the movie.  Two villains, to be precise, named Algrim the Strong and Kurse.  By way of a small summary, which you can find in expanded detail here for your reading pleasure: "in the comic books, Algrim the Strong was the most powerful of a race of Dark Elves, who is coerced by Malekith to fight Thor. After he's betrayed by Malekith and injured during a battle, Algrim is healed and transformed into a much more powerful being called Kurse, who is twice as a strong as Thor."

THOR: THE DARK WORLD is currently filming in London - catch it like Mjolnir next year on November 8th, 2013.

AAA with GIJoe figure

Akinnuoye-Agbaje at SDCC with the action figure of his character from G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA.

Extra Tidbit: As with Idris Elba and Heimdall, is this where we cue up similar complaints that "elves can't be black?" Because I sincerely hope not.

Glad to see him getting some bigger roles, he deserves it. Along with Rachel Nichols, I was disappointed that he wasn't coming back for the G.I. Joe sequel. Maybe with those reshoots or whatever they're doing for the delay, they can give him a small part. Also, he would probably make a good Black Panther is that ever happens.

YESYESYESYESYES

This is what Im talking about! Kurse is one of the best Thor villains as far as raw god-punting power and I for one cannot wait to see him in action.
Tidbit: Dark Elves black? Who would have thought???

I'm still not even going to attempt to pronounce his name, however.

Wow awesome!!

Adewale's Mr. Eko was one of my most favorite character in Lost, was really disappointed when he's so unceremoniously killed in Season 3. His soft spoken philosophical nature contradicting the gigantic stature and intimidating presence really worked wonders for his character. He was very good in GI JOE too. He's going to make a GREAT bad guy besides Loki, TWO THUMBS UP!
