Mangold travels time

Director James Mangold has already sort of traveled back in time for his last movie, all the way to the Old West with his remake of 3:10 TO YUMA (not to mention his prior experience with a period-displaced Hugh Jackman in KATE & LEOPOLD).

That’s not enough skipping through the timestream for Mangold, so he’s looking at the time-travel pitch THE ARCHIVE. The Universal thriller will be written by David Auburn, who already warped the continuum for Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock on THE LAKE HOUSE.

The project comes hot on the heels of Spike Lee’s planned time-travel story — are we looking at a DEEP IMPACT/ARMAGEDDON showdown of theoretical physics? No details whatsoever were offered for Mangold’s potential movie, so I’ll just go ahead and speculate that it involves Jessica Biel, a magic bikini, and a nefarious group of time-jumping French fashion terrorists. I’d see that.
