Mankind discovers man’s best friend in the new trailer for Alpha

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

As an epic adventure set in the last Ice Age, ALPHA tells a fascinating, visually stunning story that shines a light on the origins of man's best friend. While on his first hunt with his tribe's most elite group, a young man (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is injured and must learn to survive alone in the wilderness. Reluctantly taming a lone wolf abandoned by its pack, the pair learn to rely on each other and become unlikely allies, enduring countless dangers and overwhelming odds in order to find their way home before winter arrives.

Serving as director and co-writer of the harrowing survival tale is Albert Hughes (THE BOOK OF ELI. FROM HELL) who will shoot from a script penned by Daniele Sebastian Wiedenhaupt. Filming for the chilly-looking adventure took place in both Vancouver and Drumheller. Additional filming got underway later in Iceland, adding to the film's gorgeous vistas, inspiring sunsets, and majestic animal kingdom. ALPHA looks to have a bit of a Disney meets Blue Planet vibe to it, which is bound to please those who enjoy seeing what's left of our beautiful planet up on the silver screen.

ALPHA will prowl into theaters beginning on August 17th.
