Mann loves Carrey

04.08.2008
In the last three years. Judd Apatow’s films have made major stars out of Steve Carrell, Seth Rogen, Michael Cera, Jonah Hill, Katherine Heigl (and after FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, you can probably add Jason Segel to that list), and to a lesser extent, Leslie Mann. But who cares? She’s married to him so his money is her money, and that’s what making movies is all about (money!).

There’s no doubt that after he role in KNOCKED UP, Mann’s profile has risen, and it’s bound to do so even more, now that she’s signed on to the Jim Carrey comedy I LOVE YOU, PHILLIP MORRIS. Now this is a plot: Carrey plays a married father who is sent to prison and falls in love with his cell-mate Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor—what’s not to love?), and hatches a bunch of escape plans in an effort to reunite once Phil is released. Mann will play Carrey’s wife, and the film will be directed by the dudes who wrote BAD SANTA, so expect this to be filthy. You can next seen Mann in 17 AGAIN with Zac Efron, and then teaming up with Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen in her husband’s next directing project.

Extra Tidbit: Mann met Apatow on the set of THE CABLE GUY, where he was a producer.

Leslie Mann is uncategorically awful. Her voice, her weird mouth... it's just wrong. Maybe she has a knockout personality, I dunno :|

Bad Santa was a helluva laugh, though. You won't shit right for a week...

Why Phillip Morris? Because...

it's based on a true story, so I'm assuming they didn't change the names of the characters, plus, it has a real nice ring to it.

Why name the character Phillip Morris? Is he in jail for selling cigarettes to kids? I don't get it.
