Margot Robbie to star in “Braveheart meets Game of Thrones” Marian film

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Ah Robin Hood, the dashing Lothario in tights who lords over Sherwood Forest with his band of Merry Men while stealing from the rich and giving back to the poor. Sounds like quite the upstanding chap, doesn't he? But what of Marian? I bet if you handed her a sword she would cut you down nine ways till Sunday and look damn good doing it. Well, we might get our chance to find out just how much of a badass Maid Marian can be, as it's been confirmed that SUICIDE SQUAD actress Margot Robbie has signed on to star in MARIAN – a gritty fantasy drama that's being described as "BRAVEHEART meets GAME OF THRONES".

Penned by Pete Barry, a writer who's new to the game, MARIAN is based on the character from the Robin Hood folklore. Here's the score:

After a conspiracy to conquer England in which the love of her life Robin Hood dies before her eyes, Marian picks up the cause to lead her people into a pivotal war. She comes to power, charging into a battle that will not only decide the fate of the kingdom, but that will see her don the mantle of the man she loved. In the process, she rises as a legend herself.

Holy crap! This sounds pretty damn cool if you ask me. With Robbie set to star in the film, it's also been mentioned that her LuckyChap Entertainment label may produce the film as well in cooperation with Rock Shank and his Romark Films studio.

For the moment, Robbie is sharpening her skates for the figure skating drama I, TONYA. She's also prepping to return to her role as the bat-shit crazy and beautiful Harley Quinn in David Ayer's planned GOTHAM CITY SIRENS project. Who are they you might ask? So what do you Shmoes think? Are you down to watch Margot Robbie as Maid Marian as she carves up a field of armored soldiers in the name of justice, love, and the right to rule her own kingdom? Let us know in the comments section below.

Meanwhile, you can see Robbie do what bad guys do best as Harley Quinn in David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD which is available now on Digital, DVD, and Blu-Ray formats.
