Mark Wahlberg admits that M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening was ‘a bad movie’

While the majority of us already knew that M. Night Shyamalan’s 2008 eco-terror flick THE HAPPENING was a truly retarded piece of filmmaking, it’s heartening to hear that movie’s principal star Mark Wahlberg being so candid in his admission of that fact. That’s not something we see everyday (and especially not so relatively soon after a film’s release).

During a press conference this past weekend for David O. Russell’s upcoming THE FIGHTER, Wahlberg was asked to talk about his co-star Amy Adams when the actor wound up revealing just a wee bit more…

“I was such a huge fan of [Amy Adams]. We’d actually had the luxury of having lunch before to talk about another movie, and it was a bad movie that I did. She dodged the bullet. I don’t want to tell you what movie… alright, THE HAPPENING with M. Night Shyamalan. It is was it is. F*cking trees, man, the plants. F*ck it. You can’t blame me for wanting to try to play a science teacher, you know? I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook.”

I really applaud Wahlberg’s ‘f*ck it’ attitude because it’s just SO refreshing to see. Not surprisingly, the audience during the press conference erupted in laughter after the actor’s comments. Shyamalan must be spinning in his grave!
