Martin Freeman’s Civil War role revealed, plus new still & Empire cover

Empire has revealed Martin Freeman's role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, and, as many of us suspected, The Hobbit and Sherlock actor will be playing Everett Ross in THE WINTER SOLDIER sequel. According to the publication, he will be part of the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre. In the comics, Ross is a U.S. ambassador assigned to Black Panther, and last year Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige said that Freeman's character will appear in future MCU films.

Empire has also released a new still from the movie featuring Freeman's Ross, Emily VanCamp's Sharon Carter (aka Agent 13), and a German SWAT team, and co-director Joe Russo told the publication that returning to Germany will bring Chris Evans' Captain America "full circle." In addition to the new image, below you'll also find the subscribers' cover for the upcoming issue, which isn't as awesome as the Cap vs. Iron Man regular cover we brought you last week, but it's still pretty damn cool.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is due out on May 6, 2016.
