Marty says ssshhh!

Feb. 14, 2008by:
The last time a cell phone went off when I was in a movie theatreóI think it was during a midnight screening of THE BUCKET LIST--I literally got up, went over to the phoneís owner, put each of my hands on both sides of their head, and proceeded to tear it off their neck. My father still hasnít forgiven me for murdering his mother, but I donít appreciate people leaving their phones on during movies, especially when the theatre has ads before the show reminding you to turn your ringer off. And if you think Iím crazy, then Martin Scorsese is here to back me up. Hereís a spot he did for AT&T Wireless thatíll air before films, reminding you to turn your crappy phone off!

Extra Tidbit: Hopefully this will become a series from the company.

Funny

Possibly the funniest thing I have see all day (albeit I am sitting in my office right now looking at experimental stats, which unfortunately don't even produce a chuckle, except for my academic supervisor.... nonetheless, pretty damn funny!)

Awesome.

Love Martin, love this spot. I hope it plays in theaters. Especially the one near me... motherfuckers.

No, Mut, you don't have anger problems, you have cell phone in the theater problems. And I love your solution, man.

Funny shit, but yeah, Pollack's was a little better.

The problem isn't just with phone calls, though, it's with the phones themselves. It seems like every time I go to the theater, about halfway through the film, some jackass starts wondering "when's this gonna be over?" and whips out his phone to check the time. What he doesn't seem to f*cking realize is that this creates a tiny little light that, in a dark movie-viewing environment, seems to have almost as much power as the freakin' sun!

It's especially fun with stadium seating! And man, it's shit like that that just pulls you right out of the film. The solution? Ban cell phones from theaters. Sure, it's a little harsh, but it's better than my previous idea, which involved those "Die!" chairs from "Austin Powers." I think I have some anger problems.

Okay, that's freakin' funny!

I remember those Orange trailers. The one with Carrie Fisher was genius. I especially liked the last line: "And we could put lightsabers in there too! Zzzz! Zzzz!"

Haha

This is awesome. Along with the credit card commercial he did, I'm starting to think that marty should just be in commercials when he isn't making movies. This is great.

part of a series

I guess with this one you can call it a series...Sydney Pollack did one last year, interrupting a breakup phone call (the lighting was just too bright and he should be pacing, not just sitting there).

Simply amazing.

"To you it's 'Frank'" or "You should be drinkin' something out of a bottle" are simply hilarious, gotta love Marty.

Love it!

This is like the Orange trails before films in the UK. We need Scorsese in them too!
