Marvel’s Runaways and much more coming to Hulu’s Fall 2018 Programming Slate

Alongside the December 21st Season 2 premiere date for Marvel's RUNAWAYS, Hulu has announced a robust lineup of shows set for the streaming platform's Fall 2018 Programming Slate. In this day and age, it goes without saying that streaming services are perpetually locked in a fierce competition with one another to bring their subscribers the very best in entertainment. Hopefully, Hulu stands to offer you plenty of reasons to remain on board with what they have planned.

Below you'll find a full breakdown of what's to come:

MINDING THE GAP

A documentary film by Bing Liu, which was executive produced by Steve James compiles over 12 years of footage shot in his hometown of Rockford, IL, in MINDING THE GAP, Bing Liu searches for correlations between his skateboarder friends' turbulent upbringings and the complexities of modern-day masculinity. Liu weaves a story of generational forgiveness while exploring the precarious gap between childhood and adulthood. MINDING THE GAP is set for an August 17 debut.

CRIME + PUNISHMENT

A documentary film by Stephen Maing, with executive producer Laura Poitras. CRIME + PUNISHMENT examines the United States' most powerful police department through the efforts of a group of active duty officers and a private investigator who risk their careers and safety to bring light to harmful policing practices which have plagued the precincts and streets of New York City for decades. Amidst a landmark class action lawsuit over illegal policing quotas, director Stephen Maing chronicles the real lives and struggles of a group of black and Latino whistle-blower cops and the young minorities they are pressured to arrest and summons. CRIME + PUNISHMENT will debut on Hulu August 24.

SAFE HARBOUR SEASON 1

Cast: Series stars Phoebe Tonkin (THE ORIGINALS), Ewen Leslie (TOP OF THE LAKE), Leeanna Walsman (WENTWORTH), Hazem Shammas, Nicole Chamoun, Jacqueline McKenzie (DEEP BLUE SEA), Joel Jackson, and Robert Rabiah.
Crew: The series is produced by Matchbox Pictures. Showrunner & writer Belinda Chayko heads a writing team that includes Matt Cameron and Phil Enchelmaier.
Synopsis: On a yachting holiday from Darwin to Indonesia, five Australians come across a broken-down fishing boat, full of desperate asylum seekers. The Australians decide to help, towing the refugees, but when they wake the next morning the fishing boat is gone. Five years later, they meet some of the refugees again and learn the truth. Someone cut the rope between the two boats and, as a result, seven people died when the fishing boat sank. The revelation drives a wedge of mistrust between the Australians, as they grapple with protecting themselves and doing the right thing. The refugees struggle with their desire for justice and, possibly, revenge. Old secrets come to light, relationships are shattered and lives are put in danger. And one question hangs over it all – who cut the rope?

I LOVE YOU, AMERICAN WITH SARAH SILVERMAN

Synopsis: Serving heady concepts in a big, bready, aggressively silly sandwich, Silverman tackles the symptoms of why we are where we are today. With monologues about this very moment coming from her personal point of view, this show aims to venture out of our echo chambers and connect unlike-minded people. The show reunites ourselves with compassion and empathy without missing a comedic beat.

INTO THE DARK

Series Description:  In partnership with Blumhouse Television, Into The Dark is a horror event series from prolific, award-winning producer, Jason Blum’s independent TV studio. The series includes 12 super-sized episodes, with a new installment released each month inspired by a holiday and will feature Blumhouse’s signature genre/thriller spin on the story.
 
“The Body”

“Flesh & Blood”

Crew: Written by Louis Ackerman. Directed by Patrick Lussier.
Synopsis: Kimberly, a teenager suffering from agoraphobia, has not left the house since her mother’s murder, which remains unsolved. While under the care of her doting father on the eve of Thanksgiving, Kimberly begins to suspect that she is in danger, and that it’s always the ones you love that hurt you the most.

LIGHT AS A FEATHER SEASON 1

Synopsis: The Runaways have left their homes (and evil parents) behind and now have to learn to live on their own. As they scavenge for food, search for shelter, and take care of one another, our kids begin to realize that, for better or worse, they’re stuck with each other. And it’s up to them to take down PRIDE once and for all. But someone sent a mysterious message to Jonah… Is there a mole in the Runaways? Meanwhile PRIDE is focused on finding their children, and Jonah has his own dangerous plan in mind.

Which of the above-mentioned shows are you most excited for? Personally, I'm eagerly awaiting the sophomore season of MARVEL'S RUNAWAYS, and I do believe that INTO THE DARK looks like it could offer a bit of fun. Meanwhile, LIGHT AS A FEATHER should elicit a few scares for horror fans, while Sarah Silverman's latest comedic effort stands to present viewers with some welcomed belly laughs. At face value, the lineup looks to provide Hulu subscribers with plenty of variety as they enter the year's spookiest season.
