Marvel Studios & Kevin Feige will now report directly to Disney's Alan Horn

Alan Horn Kevin Feige Banner

THR has learned that "after several years of frustration," Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige will now report directly to Disney studio chief Alan Horn instead of Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac "Ike" Perlmutter.

A spokesperson for Disney has confirmed the shift, saying "Marvel Studios is taking the next logical step in its integration with The Walt Disney Studios, joining Pixar and Lucasfilm in centralizing many of its film-related functions in Burbank, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D’Esposito continuing to lead the Marvel Studios team reporting to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn." This move will likely give Feige more freedom, however he will still have to answer to the Mouse House.

So why the reorganization, which went into effect last week? Well, Kevin Feige has apparently been looking to break free from Ike Perlmutter for some time now. Perlmutter is known for his micromanaging and frugality, and according to a source close to the company, "Everybody knows Ike is difficult. This has been a long time coming. Kevin has grown his entire career under Ike and now it just makes sense." What are your thoughts on this behind-the-scenes shake-up?

Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will begin with CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, which is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.

Giving Feige & marvel more freedom is definitely a good thing, Phase 2 seemed to be all over the place, so let's see what this holds for the future of the MCU.

I've heard Ike Perlmutter has been the one holding back Marvel from being a bit more progressive with their casting and choice of directors. Apparently he's very stubborn and Disney was worried that he would fire Feige over the slightest indiscretion.

By making this move Marvel Studios only has to answer to Disney now, and in the long term it could result in Feige sticking around for Phase 4.

"Nuts" is how I've read it. The kind of [link] that he'll make business decisions with million-dollar repercussions on a whim.

By all accounts this is a very good thing for Feige and the MCU.

In other words, thinks are about to go into suck overdrive.

Can anyone name a Disney franchise that's been handled well in recent memory?

Initially, I had a bad feeling. Due to his work at Warner Bros., Horn has my respect (as much as I can give to any studio head). But the idea of Disney taking a more hands-on approach with Marvel. But knowing as little as I do about Perlmutter, fuck it, let Feige talk to the man who oversaw Chris Nolan and the Dark Knight movies.

Ike was a douchebag who says Women can't be superheroes

There are a bunch of things I dislike about Ike. He was behind forcing the Mandarin twist to save money on having to hire another actor. Oh and he believes female superheroes suck and don't make money. There are a bunch of leaked emails about him FIGHTING a Captain Marvel movie until he gave in and said he wanted FULL CONTROL over it. So now with this news, I bet we get an AMAZING Captain Marvel film instead of a sexist script with a half naked female on screen at all times.

Anyone else feel...

Like they have no idea what this really means lol Like sure, different boss to talk to, but we don't know at all what changes (if any) this will make to future films.

Just confused on what to picture being the difference. Doesn't matter what speculation you think of.

Marvel obviously has been ridiculously successful in what they've done, but I really think they need to upgrade from their mostly television directors and crews. As much as I've enjoyed any of the MCU films, they ALL look way too cheap like a goddamn TV show. Even AoU, Ant-man, GotG, CA:TWS, etc. Maybe with this cheapo billionaire out of the way, Marvel can pull in a real proven filmmaker like Spielberg, Cuaron, Jackson, Wright (heh), etc. I would LOVE if the MCU's visuals were cinematic

Hopefully Disney Studio won't interfere with Marvel Studios too much. There's no need to rock the boat that Marvel Studios is on.

I can see why he didn't want to deal with Ike Perlmutter anymore. He once complained that journalists at a press junket were allowed two sodas instead of one

Now that's fucking cheap.
