Marvel to shoot a new television series in Vancouver; will it be Agent Carter with Hayley Atwell?

01.24.2014

It's been rumored Marvel wants to create a television series about Hayley Atwell's Agent Peggy Carter from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, and Atwell has said in the past that she'd definitely be interested in starring in a potential series. Now Marvel is going to be shooting a new series in Vancouver, and it just might be Agent Carter.

Insider sources have revealed to CBM that Marvel and ABC are preparing to start filming for a new television series in the very near future. Their source says the series is working under the production title, "That Old Chestnut," and Marvel and ABC will be sinking a ton of money into it, with a budget much higher than your normal TV show. CBM's source also say security has been incredibly tight on the project, and said, "that in his twenty years of experience, he hasn't seen this level of devotion to security." According to their source, Marvel wants to start principal photography by June at the latest.

But is Marvel and ABC working on an Agent Carter series? CBM asked the source, and all he would say is, "Mum's the word."

What do you think? Will we be getting a television series about Agent Carter soon, or is Marvel working on something else? Since ABC is involved and not Netflix I doubt this is for any of the upcoming series featuring Daredevil, Luke Cage and others, but if it's not those or Agent Carter, then what? I guess we'll know once more details have been leaked and/or announced.

The next Marvel film to hit theaters will be CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER on April 4th, 2014.

Seriously folks, if you haven't seen the one shot you should not be commenting negatively. The one shot showed us the potential her character has and the way they could develop the story. For crying out loud, you look like idiots making comments when you haven't even seen the one shot... "she was an extra... she was a side show... she wasn't a main character"... yes, you're all right...till you see the one shot.

What is even more funny to me is that the One Shot started basically saying the same thing and what happened at the end? She became very important. Classic.

Wasn't she quite forgettable?

I don't really know who this is aimed at. It's like doing a spinoff show about Robin.

I think this could have better potential of being a better show than Agents of Shield because of all of the build up and past history that could lead up to the currents events taking place now.

Plus, I'm sure Dominic Cooper could make a few cameos here and there, since he isn't that big of an actor just yet (but should be). And maybe bring back Neal McDonough's character and a few others from First Avenger.

make a Punisher TV show. OR Heroes for Hire - that would actually work now that I think about it.

You mean a series with Luke Cage and Iron Fist? That'll be shown on Netflix.

The series will feature Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Jessica Jones and it won't be called Heroes for Hire. I think you would be paying for each hero in a miniseries and then they'll team up and they'll be called Marvel's Defenders. You know, because Marvel has the rights to the name Defenders but they're going to use the Hulk and Dr. Strange in the movies.

I am more interested in them making AoS more interesting and improved than a series based on Agent Carter. Though it does sound like something else, being so ridiculously secretive and big budget over a minor MCU character

I'd prefer to see Miss Atwell sign up for the second series of 'True Detective', in which she strips off and then bends over in front of someone far, far luckier than I.

Well, Mickloud pretty much said what I was going to say. There is no need for a show based on her. Her character wasn't even interesting to me.

Honestly, who cares about an Agent Carter series. She was a supporting character in the first Captain America movie and that is it. I know in the comics she's a more prevalent character. But really, what's this show going to add to anything in MCU? Marvel already proved that going with a network TV show is not always a great idea, they prove that on a weekly basis with Agents of SHIELD. So why should any of us believe this will be a good show?

Frankly, I'm only looking forward to the shows coming out on Netflix since they'll follow actual heroes from the comics and will add something directly to the MCU.

Potential

I really like Peggy Carter's character but the potential of this goes way beyond just her. If you haven't seen her One Shot, stop reading. The rest of my post contains spoilers.

At the end of the One Shot Howard Stark invites her to form S.H.I.E.L.D. If the series explores the beginnings of that and brings in other characters like Dum Dum Dugan then this series can be the backstory to the current MCU. Include with this the rumor that we will get an older Hank Pym that

If the series explores the beginnings of that and brings in other characters like Dum Dum Dugan then this series can be the backstory to the current MCU. Include with this the rumor that we will get an older Hank Pym that operated pre 1960's then he could possibly join later in the series as well. They could even drop in a very young Nick Fury to some degree or Alexander Pierce. So my point is that this show could have limitless potential IF they approach it correctly.

Best written reply to this article. Everyone should read this. If you haven't seen the one shot, you should not be commenting. Once you've seen it, you will understand. Exploring the 50's-70's era could be fantastic if done right.

There's been a few Marvel leaks that ended up not being true (Planet Hulk?). I wonder if Fiege put out some misinformation to see what got leaked and someone lost their job. Certainly puts "leaking info" into perspective for everyone still working.

Wouldn't be violently opposed to it but I don't think Peggy needs her own show. There are plenty of other characters in the Marvel universe who'd be better suited to and frankly more deserving of a tv series.

Hmmmm

Would they really need that much secrecy and that high of a budget for Agent Carter? That makes me think it's something else. Whatever it is, hopefully it's better than Agents of Shield.
