Marvel unveils a special poster specifically for midnight IMAX screenings of The Avengers

Apr. 26, 2012by: Alejandro Stepenberg

Avengers Light Banner

I honestly don't know if I've ever seen a movie promoted as much as Marvel's THE AVENGERS.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just a bit overwhelming.

So I actually find it quite nice to see bit of advertising that doesn't promote the movie itself per se, but rather the very specific shared experience of attending a midnight screening.  I love to go to those whenever I can, because you can look around the theater at the sea of grinning faces and know that you're among fellow Schmoes.  Fellow geeks.  Fellow enthusiasts.  In other words, people who really care about and love the story their about to see.

And if you like the art below, it's actually possible to get your hands on a print for free - just make sure to get a jump on those tickets and be at the theater hella early, as they're extemely limited.  In fact, even the number of participating theaters is limited, so click here to find out if you're one of the fortunate few.

I got mine

I got my Imax Midnight tickets for Boston over a month ago. I went to see American Reunion (it sucked) on tuesday and the guy at the ticket booth said they still had tickets, and they were adding screenings to non imax theaters

Like everyone else, can't wait. In the meantime, I'm going to go to KfC to get the collectible figurine. This week's character: Cap.

The saddest thing is in Thailand (where I now live), they will only show it in IMAX 3D which gave me headache. Sad. Why can't they just release it in normal IMAX???

That's amazing!

A poster where both Captain America and Iron Man are wearing their mask? Where Iron Man actually fly? What a concept!

It as if that movie was based on a comic book!

Tdibit

Not only do I have tickets for midnight in Times Square, but also tickets for the the marathon starting at 11:30 the previous morning of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America and then the glorious ending of The Avengers premiere! So excited to be surrounded by true die hard geek fans. I've got a husbands bulge.

Seen it 3 times...

2D, 3D, IMAX 3D... (the first 2 being Press Screenings)
And I intend to see it a few more times!
And it's just... WOW !
And, there is only ONE secret ending (but a HUGE one), so, I guess the 'new' scene they shot a few days ago, in costume, is for a DVD/BR bonus, probably one of the shorts they do for the BR.

And considering one of the film's events and the character who was central in those shorts, my guess is this will be the scene of his burial or

That is pretty damn sweet! I wish we still had a drive-in here by my place. I used to love going to the drive-in way more comfortable than theaters and the big plus is you dont have to worry about people on their phone :)

I'm not much of a midnight screener, but if this keeps happening, I might have to give in.

Any people in London have advice for the best IMAX experience in the city? The BFI-Waterloo is not playing Avengers.

I think in terms of sheer scale, I think the Westfields Vue is the only one in the area which comes close to the bfi.

Well promotion does work but this is the probably the one movie that does not need to be promoted, its an automatic hit, same goes for TDKR.
