Matt Damon could take the lead in Cameron Crowe's We Bought A Zoo

Who's buying a zoo? Matt Damon might be buying a zoo.

At least in Cameron Crowe's next film anyway.

Damon is in early talks to star as Benjamin Mee in WE BOUGHT A ZOO. The movie was adapted from Mee's memoir of the same name. "Back in 2006, Mee was a do-it-yourself columnist for the U.K.'s Guardian newspaper. The writer took it to a whole new level when he decided to move into a rundown twelve-bedroom mansion in the English countryside with his wife, two children, brother, and 76-year-old mother. On top of that, the mansion included a 30 acre wildlife park that was home to 200 wild animals. Their success was bittersweet when Mee's wife, Katherine learned that she had terminal cancer."

The script was written by Aline Brosh McKenna (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA). Fox is trying to get production started quickly in order for a late release in 2011.

No other details were given on the project. Glad to hear that Damon might be on for a Crowe film though.

Extra Tidbit: "MATT DAY-MUN!" Yep. It had to happen. Sorry.
