Matt Reeves cannot get enough of those apes. The director has officially signed on to helm the third film in the PLANET OF THE APES reboot series. I have no idea what the title will be but it promises to be repetitive and long.

The sequel, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES also under the control of Captain Reeves has yet to hit theaters. Andy Serkis returns to mo-cap the hell out of a story centered on:

Caesar, the intelligent ape that led the breakout from a lab before much of the human race was wiped out at the close of the first film. The survivors square off against Caesars growing army in the second film.

That flick starring Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell will release on July 11th during the Summer blockbusters of 2014.

Reeves will also take on writing duties with DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES co-scribe Mark Bomback.

Extra Tidbit: Lizzy Caplan is not included. Sorry. At least not that I know of anyway...

I've forgotten...with no humans making the gas...how are the other apes going to get clever? The virus spreads by being coughed on by a fellow humansas I recall. I dont think it was an airborne virus. So do the apes need to get coughed on by humans ...ewww for sure ...but they get increased intelligence out of it...so it's not an unpleasant experience without benefits :o)

It'll be called FINALLY REMAKING THE ORIGINAL PLANET OF THE APES BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING MORE TO TELL.

Sounds like a plan

I like the time jump, as it was necessary given that it might have taken an additional 1-2 films over 5-10 years to get to the time period depicted in Dawn. My guess for the threequel? Revolution of the Planet of the Apes, depicting a parallel timeline of the American Civil War and the [link] of the human race...then again how or would they even want to depict humans having reverted to primate intelligence?

This is great news. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes already looks dark so I can only imagine what Reeves has in mind when the Apes finally take over.

Dawn looks pretty damn good and Fox must like what they see so I'm down for it.

Looking forward to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. While I wasn't expecting such a dramatic time skip (I thought they'd follow the story immediately where Rise left off) I do like that it gets us to a fully-fledged ape revolution with a Terminator series-esque human resistance - with Gary Oldman leading the charge!
