Doctor Who’s Matt Smith joins the cast of Alan Taylor’s Terminator: Genesis

It hasn't been long since details have hit the (Sky)net on how TERMINATOR: GENESIS might tie into the first film.  Now, a nice bit of casting news has followed: Matt Smith, who's no stranger to Sci-Fi, will take up a role in TERMINATOR: GENESIS. No word on the details of his role yet, but it's rumored to grow in the second and third films in this newly rebooted/re-magined/reloaded Terminator trilogy.

While it's too early too tell if Alan Taylor will deliver where Jonathan Mostow and McG couldn't, I'm rather excited that they're shaking up the formula and really taking advantage of the time travel angle. If there's anyone who knows all about that, the Doctor is a good place to start.

TERMINATOR: GENESIS, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Day Okeniyi, and Byung Hun Lee is set to hit theaters July 1, 2015, almost 18 years after the initial judgment day.
