Matthew Modine and others cast in Dark Knight Rises

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES added three more roles this weekend, but they're not exactly household names and I predict you'll only recognize one.

That would be Matthew Modine, best known for his role as Pvt. Joker in Stanley Kubrick's FULL METAL JACKET. The other two are Tom Conti and 11 year old Joey King.

Obviously as this is a Nolan production, there is no word on their respective roles, but it is said that Modine is playing someone named "Nixon." Any Batman junkies know if that's referencing anything?

I think the big casting announcements for TDKR are over for the time being, and now we just have look forward to more teaser images, posters and trailers and such. I'm not holding out for any sort of "OMG David Tennant is the Riddler" announcements, as I'm sure the main cast is pretty set at this point.

Extra Tidbit:	I resisted using the baiting "Joker in The Dark Knight Rises?" headline I've seen everywhere.

Hauer, Berenger, now Modine

I think Nolan just likes to cast actors from movies he was influenced by like Blade Runner, Platoon and Full Metal Jacket in supporting roles. Modine will probably just be like a Politician, or News Reporter or something. Nothing to geek out about.

William Fichtner played the bank manager in TDK specifically as a nod to Heat, so you're dead on here.

It's more like he's casts them out of respect for talented 80s actor that have faded to B-Movie obscurity. Don't forget Eric Roberts.

Any thoughts on if this will be a two parter ?? Like HP & Deathly Hallows for instance ? Just seems to me that there will be so much going on in this movie that 2 1/2 Hours might not be enough... S@#t, I'm not even sure a 3 hour movie could cover all that seems to be going down in this flick... Either way, this movie is going to be epic...

No. Nolan loathes cliffhanger endings, his movies are always self-contained. This will be it.

considering nobody has seen a script, how do you know how much is going on in the movie that it could possibly require being split into two parts? casting actors in no way equates to a movie having a lot going on. nearly every movie ever made has more actors in it than have been announced for this, and those movies did just fine as single movies.
