Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell to star in Max Landis-scripted Mr. Right

The "hand-held film" has been carried over to every other genre at this point, and I can't say that I was particularly excited to see a superhero version of it when CHRONICLE hit theaters back in 2012. Despite little expectation, the film surprised audiences with phenomenal acting, solid direction and thoughtful writing. The movie has been a launching point for everyone involved, it seems. Lead Dane DeHaan can currently be seen giving Peter Parker a hard time in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. Michael B. Jordan will also be taking to comic book films as the Human Torch in the newest FANTASTIC FOUR, directed by CHRONICLE-helmer Josh Trank.

So what about Max Landis? His latest script, MR. RIGHT, has just landed Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell in the lead roles.

Deadline lists the synopsis as such:

A woman (Kendrick) whose bad luck streak at finding lasting love seems to end when she meets Mr. Right (Rockwell). That’s until she discovers he is a reformed hit man. When his dark past catches up, their fledgling relationship is tested as they try to save one another.

While the title certainly hasn't won me over, I have faith that Landis wants to write something more than your usual Rom-Com. At the very least we have two actors in the lead who elevate any movie they take part in.

2015 is turning out to be the year of Max Landis, as he has several projects in the pipeline.  First off, his feature-film directorial debut, ME HIM HER, which stars Haley Joel Osment, Alia Shawkat, Scott Bakula and Geena Davis, is in post-production, set for a 2015 release.  We also have his version of Frankenstein coming our way, directed by Paul McGuigan (LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN, PUSH) and starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe, set to be released October 2, 2015.  Also on the road to the silver screen is AMERICAN ULTRA, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, and Topher Grace, which will also be released sometime in 2015.

Paco Cabezas is set to direct MR. RIGHT, which will start shooting this fall.

The answer is "yes".  Anna Kendrick could ask me any question, or even just make a statement, and I'm pretty sure I could muster a "yes".
