May the 4th Be With You? Star Wars Episode VII cast and title news coming

04.25.2014

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII news will soon be leaving the realm of rumor and conjecture and some solid information will be coming directly from Disney, Bad Robot, and Lucasfilm. When will this news happen? That remains to be seen but some are theorizing that it may be just over a week away.

First up, the source of this news is Kyle Buchanan, reporter for Vulture, who tweeted the following

With May 4th coming just nine days from now, it would seem an ideal place for a big STAR WARS: EPISODE VII cast reveal. Whether this be in the form of a press release or something else remains to be seen, but with news the canon for the STAR WARS sequels is now set, an announcement has to be pending. May the 4th would be a great day for fans to enjoy but it also seems like the San Diego Comic Con is also a big venue for the film.

With production beginning on STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, ravenous fans with cameras will certainly be trying their best to catch glimpses at the film. No matter what security J.J. Abrams has in place, something is bound to leak so the studio should get in front while they can. Cast news will probably come soon and with the title and possible teaser premiering at SDCC in a few months, we should be in for quite an exciting summer.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is slated for release on December 18, 2015.

So, we're pretty much getting a meaningless "big announcement coming soon" statement every week now.

I feel like any news is gonna mostly bashed by the internet so why don't they just release everything all at once, take there hits, move on and let J.J. make a killer Star Wars film.

What's the need for all this secrecy? This is literally one of the biggest, most anticipated blockbusters to come out in years, and JJ Abrams is obsessed with his ridiculous "Mystery Box" of secrets. It didn't work out for him with Star Trek Into Darkness (in fact, it roared back and bit him in the butt), so when is he going to learn? I know and am fully aware it's hard to say all this without sounding like a self-entitled fanboy, but it's not even about that. In this day and age, there's a

In this day and age, there's a certain amount of responsibility the studios have to the fans and media. All this mystery and secrecy will only set everyone up for disappointment and bad publicity when the first shot the world gets of Luke and Han Solo is a fuzzy paparazzi set photo with bad lighting.

Idk why you are so thirsty for spoilers of any kind. We didn't get set photos or "leaks" back in the 80's and early 90's and long b4 then! And I bet you walked out of the theater loving those films more than you actually would today. I'm guilty of seeking spoilers too. But I appreciate the secrecy of some of these big time films. The internet ruins our experience with all the pre judgement and negative trolls on these sites.

Spoilers? The synopsis, casting, and general movie information released by the studio is NOT considered "spoilers." And yes, we didn't have any of that kind of stuff back in the 80's and 90's...because that was a totally different era. It's different now with social media and blogs and all that. Also, don't mistake my comment as my personal opinion on the subject. I've NEVER been thirsty for spoilers, in fact I've gone out of my way to avoid them. JJ Abrams' little shtick is just ridiculous

JJ Abrams' little shtick is just ridiculous though. Secrecy for secrecy's sake. It's tired, old, and played-out. Not to mention disrespectful to the fans.

And honestly, if you want to recapture the nostalgia of going into a movie without knowing anything...you're perfectly able to do that. Just don't seek out Star Wars information on movie sites. Don't seek out every single trailer or TV spot released. That way, people who are anti-spoilers are happy, and everyone else is happy too. Not that hard.

I think they're planning to pull out all the stops at Comic-Con. Hopefully, we get a reunion of Hamill, Fisher, Ford and Williams on the Hall H stage!

Why wouldn't you want to do what works. You don't make money reliably by throwing shit at a wall and hope it sticks(cough WB)
