McG Finds Nemo

01.07.2009

TERMINATOR SALVATION hasn't even come out yet, and already Hollywood is all over McG's jock. Apparently the big budget director had multiple studios vying for his next slot, with Disney eventually winning the battle to end all battles (sorry Thermopylae). McG will direct 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA: CAPTAIN NEMO for the studio, an origin story of Jules Verne's infamous Captain Nemo, as he creates his warship, the Nautilus.

I'll bet Disney is licking their lips with this one, which has franchise potential written all over it. There's even a ride based on the original 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA, and we all remember what happened the last time Mickey and friends based a movie on a famous ride. Johnny Depp was nominated for an Oscar, we met some cuties named Orlando and Keira, and a couple of bucks were made for all! Good luck McG!

Got a whale of a tale to tell you lad,
A whale of a tale or two,
'Bout the flappin' fish and the girls I've loved,
On nights like this with the moon above,
A whale of a tale and it's all true,
I swear by my tattoo.

Let's hope he's not the next Ratner. I'm not sure the world can handle that much suck.

He's Ratner all the way!

McG on his best day will never make a film as good as Always, which is a bad Speilberg film.

Ride Potential Ruined

Disney World and Disneyland used to have "20,000 Leagues" submarine rides, but the one in Disney World was removed while the one in Disneyland became the "Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage". Way to think ahead there...

It's amazing that McG has gotten so many high-stakes gigs considering he's only got a few features under his belt. I'm willing to see what he brings with "T4" before I get on board with this new flick.

Right now McG is closer to Ratner, but hopefully T4 will change that. If this becomes a franchise, can he balance this and the supposed terminator sequels at the same time?

For some reason McG is like a slightly less talented version of Tony Scott to me. They both have distinct styles and can make a watchable movie..

I'd love to see a Nemo adaptation done similar to Alan Moore's Nemo, with the right people he could have an amazing back story.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

McG = Terrible/pathetic excuse for a Director.

He needs to resign or get fired, honestly.

My favorite book.

I'm so excited about this!!! The book is my favorite of all time, and I love the Disney movie.
It's weird. I've been thinking about how I'd actually like to see a "leagues" remake.

Ratner is way too bad and Spielberg is way too good for either of them to be suitable comparisons. How about Michael Bay?

20,000 Leagues doesn't seem very well suited to becoming a series for me, but I'm curious to see the story re-tackled nonetheless.

McG can do whatever he wants with this...

he better stay away from other stuff though. He is like Brett Ratner only worse.

Maybe the next Ratner, NOT the next Spielberg! Imagine "Oscar-winning director McG."

His name reminds me of Bud Bundy's alter-ego from Married with Children.. Grand Master B.

The ride is gone..

Yep..The ride doesn't exist anymore (at least in Disney World...dunno about Disneyland). Christian Bale for Capt. Nemo! Who's with me? ;-)

Isn't the Ride Gone?

If memory serves, I believe at least Disney World revamped their 20,000 Leagues ride into a "Finding Nemo" attraction, which...come to think of it...still rather ironic.

Actually

The last time Disney based a movie on a ride was a ghostly tale starring the ever-dull Eddie Murphy. So, is this gonna be "Pirates" or "Haunted Mansion".

I would never ever compare McG to Spielberg, but I don't think he's nearly as bad as Ratner. Can't he just be the next Roland Emmerich or something?

Also, as soon as I saw that subtitle, I knew that Disney was angling for a franchise.
