Filming is underway for AMC's Preacher pilot, and last night co-director Seth Rogen tweeted a first look at the upcoming small screen adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic series. The behind-the-scenes image features Dominic Cooper's Jesse Custer hanging out with Arseface (Rake's Ian Colletti) in (I'm assuming here) Arseface's bedroom. But if it is his room, there's one problem with this pic: no Nirvana posters.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are directing Preacher from a script they wrote with Breaking Bad scribe Sam Catlin, who is also serving as the series' showrunner. Some Preacher fans (including yours truly) are worried that the show will deviate too far from the comics, but last year Rogen explained why he doesn't want it to be exactly like the source material.

We’re definitely trying to expand on some of the ideas in the comic and make it that…we love most of the main cornerstones of the comic but we’re trying to make it that even if you’ve read the comic you should not know exactly what to expect from the TV show.

If ordered to series, Preacher will premiere on AMC sometime in 2016.

I don't recall arseface having Nirvana posters in his room after shooting himself. But I haven't read the comic in ages, so maybe I'm misremembering, but I imagine his dad would've taken them down after the incident.

I like Rogen's approach to deviating from the source material a little bit. Why would you want to watch a show where you know exactly how everything is going to play out. As long as they're planning on hitting all the major cornerstones and hallmarks of the show, there's nothing wrong with adding a little more to some of the themes or plot lines in the book. Frankly, it's worked wonders for Game of Thrones as that show has surpassed the books by far, so why can't it work for Preacher?

I don't like that...

I saw this photo and thought the same thing... Why isn't Kurt Cobain anywhere? And judging by these posters, I'm guessing this will be set in modern day, not quite when the story in the comics take place. I understand taking some liberties with the story, but I really hope they stick with it for the most part. In my opinion, by not including Cobain in Arseface's backstory they are changing more than I'd like to see. Still hoping they pull this one off, it's long overdue
