Meyers is Mandrake

Jonathan Rhys Meyers has signed on to star as the titular character in the big-screen adaptation of MANDRAKE for director Chuck Russell (THE SCORPION KING). The film has been floating around for a while now, and here is the plot, from when we heard about it back in April: Jackson Mandrake has always lived life on the edge. Working as an underground magician, Mandrake’s act has grown far too dangerous. One fateful afternoon, a CIA agent approaches Mandrake and requests that the legendary magician help the CIA on a dangerous covert operation. Mandrake reluctantly agrees but soon finds himself caught up in an intricate web of deceit, fighting for his own survival from a brilliant criminal mastermind. Sounds pretty cool to me, even though I don't usually care for Rhys Meyers. There will of course be some absolutely mind-blowing twist at the end, where Mandrake pulls the rug out from underneath everyone, I'm sure. I just hope it's more THE PRESTIGE than THE ILLUSIONIST.
Extra Tidbit: Mandrake's power is that he can hypnotise you in less time than it takes you to blink or for Britney Spears to eat a donut.

I've seen both. I really, really, wanted to like The Illusionist, but it's too much effort. Prestige was so much better.

Anyway, this movies sounds like it could be pretty interesting. I enjoyed Meyers in Matchpoint. Lot of magician movies lately. I wonder when that Harry Houdini one with Guy Pearce is coming out.

Hey Jimmy get off the bandwagon

We all love Chris Nolan and I even purchased 'The Prestige' before seeing it and was quite disappointed. I thought 'The Illusionist' was much more entertaining as did almost everyone who's seen both.

Sounds a little bit like F/X, not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that. Non necessarily.
