Michael B. Jordan stands tall in poster for Creed II; Trailer drops tomorrow

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Ryan Coogler’s CREED was a roaring success, earning over $100 million at the box office and garnering rave reviews and an Oscar nomination for Sylvester Stallone. Much like the first ROCKY movie this meant sequels, and this fall Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) returns to the ring, and you can see by the very first poster for the movie that he’s very prepared for the fight.

Simple but dramatic, this first poster utilizes no more than a black and white scheme, the numeral for two and Jordan himself. The actor looks in immaculate shape, no doubt after the first CREED and the recent BLACK PANTHER kept him in fighting form. As well, the poster comes before the very first trailer tomorrow, so best get your own boxing gloves shined up.

Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family's past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what's worth fighting for, and discover that nothing's more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can't escape your history.

The movie will see the return of Dolph Lundgren’s Ivan Drago, the man who famously killed Adonis’s father Apollo (Carl Weathers) in the ring in ROCKY IV. Now he’s training his own son who will go head to head with Adonis in a battle where, hopefully, history will not repeat itself. As well as returning to the role of Rocky Balboa, Stallone is also handling scripting duties on the movie with Steven Caple Jr. replacing Coogler as director.

CREED was one of my favorite movies from 2015 and I'm eagerly awaiting to see how they continue Adonis's story in the sequel. It's certainly a high bar to leap over, but I'm holding out hope for the best. We'll get a taste of what they cooked up tomorrow when the trailer drops, so stay tuned for that!

CREED 2 hits theaters November 21.
