Michael Bay hits the fire button and launches Heatseekers

I have to assume that destructicon Michael Bay has his personal army of lingerie-clad henchwomen alert him whenever a new script with an explosive title hits the Hollywood market.

Needless to say, an original action script called HEATSEEKERS caught Bay's attention, and his Platinum Dunes production company grabbed it up for a fat stack.

The script comes from attorney-turned-screenwriter George Mahaffey, and is described as being in the vein of THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS and POINT BREAK. The story "follows a young ex-military pilot who infiltrates a gang of aerial pirates working out of Bangkok and takes part in an elaborate tower heist using powered gliders and parachutes."

Dunes guys Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing along with Bay, who will let someone else direct the sky thrills while he makes giant robots wreck stuff.

Extra Tidbit: It's good to see Platinum Dunes getting away from just remakes of classic horror movies... even if their originals so far were THE UNBORN and HORSEMEN.
