Michael Bay wants to swing his sword
As a producer Michael Bay doesn't just remake classic horror movies and make them worse. Well at least not any more. Bay is producing the sci-fi alien flick I AM NUMBER FOUR for DreamWorks and director DJ Caruso and now he's set up the action-thriller GIDEON'S SWORD at Paramount.
Paramount paid seven-figures for the rights to the upcoming novel by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, which Bay will produce. While SWORD sounds like something that features knights and chainmail and big castles, it actually doesn't have anything to do with medieval times (or Medieval Times for that matter).
The story follows a teen named Gideon Crew who witnesses the brutal murder of his father. 20 years later he gets his revenge but complications arise when a mysterious witness to this crime steps forward and offers him the chance of a lifetime. What chance is that? Who knows. The book still doesn't come out for another year.
Unlike FRIDAY THE 13TH and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, this Bay production won't be a Platinum Dunes film and will instead be set up at his other production company, Bay Films. As far as directing, Bay is currently working with Paramount on TRANSFORMERS 3, which is set to begin filming later this summer.
|Extra Tidbit:||Preston and Child previously wrote the novel that RELIC was based on.|
