Michael Myers kills again as Halloween Returns begins production this July

06.15.2015

Michael Myers will return to terrorize sexually active teenagers in the newly announced HALLOWEEN RETURNS. Previously known as HALLOWEEN 3D and set to be directed by Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, the film will now be directed by SAW writer Marcus Dunstan from a script he wrote alongside Patrick Melton. The pair have worked multiple times together on films like THE COLLECTOR, PIRANHA 3DD, and the FEAST trilogy.

The announcement of the new film also came with the news that it would be going into production next month. The film will be released via The Weinstein Company and Malek Akkad is set to produce with Matthew Stein as executive producers for Trancas International Films. Bob Weinstein issued this statement about the movie.

“Michael Myers has taken a long break from the big screen and we know fans are eager to see him return. We are excited to be back in business with Trancas and look forward to bringing one of the scariest installments of this classic franchise to audiences worldwide.”

There is no word on whether the film will be a sequel to the two Rob Zombie remakes, a sequel to the original franchise, or a reboot all it's own. The plot for the film was not released with the news of the project.

I have always enjoyed the HALLOWEEN franchise even through the ridiculous sequels. I even liked the Paul Rudd-starring CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS. I stopped watching when Busta Rhymes joined the cast and I hated the Rob Zombie movies. I do not hold high hopes for the writing team of the SAW franchise, but this may be exciting news for some of you.

HALLOWEEN RETURNS has no set release date at this time.

Rob Zombie's Halloween movies were the tits.
Hell of a lot better then another movie with Busta Rhymes doing his best Bruce Lee impression.

ROB Zombie bashing bandwagoners.

Oh MY GOD (with the exception of SpongeMike182) here is yet another group of posters that relentlessly bash Rob Zombies Halloween and its sequel... really?? how original.
seriously they werent THAT bad... it just switched up the focus to Michael Myers over Laurie Strode and people go nuts!! what cracks me up is that people are STILL going nuts... wasnt this from 2009?? jesus people let it go.
I'm not sure because I stopped going to the theaters to see remakes (unless it got a decent review)

I'm not sure because I stopped going to the theaters to see remakes (unless it got a decent review) so I failed to see Last House on the Left, The town the dreaded Sundown, Poltergeist, Carrie, and all those Texas Chainsaw Massacre flicks that dribbled out of Michael Bay production office...seriously? there are SO many TCM movies its difficult to keep track of them all....
anyway back to this ...it doesnt sound like it'll be a remake at all, so everybody just calm down and quit yer bitchin.
honestly it isnt worth complaining about movies that we've seen once, didnt like for whatever reason and will never watch them again...

meh

i loved Zombie's Halloween. It was a lot better horror remake than a lot of the crappy ones you see now a days (Friday the 13th, Carrie, Poltergeist). Plus it wasn't a remake that didn't require a shot by shot remake like what poltergeist did. I'm just eagerly awaiting Zombie's new film, which judging the premise, could be bad as hell

on production values alone, the 2009 Friday the 13th remake DID something that all the others didnt do.... it succeeded in looking fantastic budget wise... with that said, how can anybody bash the F13 remake after Jason takes Manhattan, Jason goes to Hell, Jason X (Jason Ecch) and Freddy vs Jason were just blatantly shitty movies and yet everybody complains about the 2009 remake like ITS BAD... seriously the franchise IS BAD.... New Line destroyed the franchise and yet people say F13 (2009) was

I mean YES, it was truely uncharacteristic that Jason now takes hostages and lives in an underground fortress built on top of an old school bus but aside from that, the characters were pretty much all moronic and stupid as set forth in the Friday the 13th book of rules and regulations, right? I mean thats literally what we were expecting right? characters that are stupid moronic teenagers that don't deserve to live... and that is exactly what we got....
its not a great movie but compared to the other movies?? shit the remake deserves an Oscar or something more than what it got.

Eh? I don't know. i would love to see them make a straight up sequel after H20 and/or Resurrection and just have Josh Harnett's character be the hero this time around that goes after Myers to redeem his mother's death.

But I am excited for another Halloween film, but I hope we actually get a coherent storyline to go along with it. I mean, it has to be better than the two disasters that Rob Zombie made.

I enjoyed Rob Zombie's version of Halloween for what it was, a gritty bloodbath, that is what Zombie gives us. If you went into either of his Halloween films believing you were going to get something similar to John Carpenter's take then it is your own fault that you didn't/couldn't enjoy Zombie's take. He also gave us a different look at the evolution of the character. As far as I'm concerned I think that Zombie's movies are done. He wrapped them up relatively well. That being said I would

That being said I would like to see a continuation of the original series that ties all of the other installments together. Melton and Dunstan have proven that they can do serious tension and psychological horror with The Collector/The Collection but also showed that they aren't shy about the blood and gore and don't take themselves too seriously with the Saw and Feast films under their belts. I think they a decent choice to bring Michael back to the big screen. Far better than Lussier and Farmer.

First we get Zombie to butcher the franchise and now we get the writers of Saw to continue butchering the franchise even more. Michael Myers can't catch a break.
