Michael Myers kills again as Halloween Returns begins production this July

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Michael Myers will return to terrorize sexually active teenagers in the newly announced HALLOWEEN RETURNS. Previously known as HALLOWEEN 3D and set to be directed by Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, the film will now be directed by SAW writer Marcus Dunstan from a script he wrote alongside Patrick Melton. The pair have worked multiple times together on films like THE COLLECTOR, PIRANHA 3DD, and the FEAST trilogy.

The announcement of the new film also came with the news that it would be going into production next month. The film will be released via The Weinstein Company and Malek Akkad is set to produce with Matthew Stein as executive producers for Trancas International Films. Bob Weinstein issued this statement about the movie.

“Michael Myers has taken a long break from the big screen and we know fans are eager to see him return. We are excited to be back in business with Trancas and look forward to bringing one of the scariest installments of this classic franchise to audiences worldwide.”

There is no word on whether the film will be a sequel to the two Rob Zombie remakes, a sequel to the original franchise, or a reboot all it’s own. The plot for the film was not released with the news of the project.

I have always enjoyed the HALLOWEEN franchise even through the ridiculous sequels. I even liked the Paul Rudd-starring CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS. I stopped watching when Busta Rhymes joined the cast and I hated the Rob Zombie movies. I do not hold high hopes for the writing team of the SAW franchise, but this may be exciting news for some of you.

HALLOWEEN RETURNS has no set release date at this time.
