Miles Teller hints that the classic costumes will appear in Fantastic Four

03.17.2015

The reaction to the trailer for Josh Trank's FANTASTIC FOUR was decidedly divisive. If the trailer did anything, it swayed those worried about the film either firmly into a hate or love perspective on the movie. Personally, I liked the way the trailer looked and it did exactly what it was supposed to do and intrigued me further about the project. After the pair of Tim Story directed FANTASTIC FOUR films, it seemed apparent that fans didn't want a version faithful to the comics, so here is a new vision on the first family of Marvel.

One noticeable difference in the trailer were the costumes worn by the superhero team which do not look very heroic. But, star Miles Teller hinted in an interview with ScreenCrush that we may be seeing the classic comic book outfits before the credits roll.

These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great [...] But, yeah it would be very odd if the Fantastic Four didn't don the traditional costumes. You've got to. There is some servicing there. You've got to give that to the fans. That's what it's all about.

With the sequel to FANTASTIC FOUR already greenlit for a June 9, 2017 release, it seems very likely that if we see the costumes adorned with the encircled numeral four it would not be until the end of the film. As an origin movie, FANTASTIC FOUR seems like it will be about embracing the team dynamic as well as each hero's individual powers. But, I am sure even comic book purists may not be happy about this darker and more realistic take on the comic book switching back to the traditional look of their outfits. I guess you cannot please everybody.

FANTASTIC FOUR hits theaters on August 7th.

I liked Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer. I was a bit disappointed by the ending. (We never saw the Silver Surfer fight Galactus.) I'm disappointed that they didn't do a direct to video follow up. Sometimes those movies turn out to be good.

So, according to Miles Teller, it would be odd if the Fantastic Four didn't dress like the Fantastic Four from the comics, but it's *not* odd for the Fantastic Four to star in a movie that looks bugger all like the Fantastic Four comics? That's interesting logic.

You all need to calm down and remember to enjoy the evolution of cinema.

The saddest thing that can come from this ordeal is the silencing of originality. This is this decades version of the FF. For better or worse is yet to be seen. But as a true fan of the cinema, how can you not be intrigued by the prospect? Art is in constant evolution. Movies today, mostly action based, are in an art period we could call hyper realism. It is what fans are craving. The "artists" , directors / screenwriters, are reveling in that. The MCU has found a unique voice in the movement

I think that Trank has the ability to be a great artist in this movement. I really look forward to what he brings to the table and will be there on opening weekend for this movie.

It's getting old

The criticism here is getting old. For all I know this movie is going to suck balls but since I've seen a 2 minute trailer, a few behind the scenes photos and a few official ones I can't make much of a judgement. I have zero understanding of the ridiculous amount of hate for this movie and it's cast since no one here can give a truly informed opinion until they see the movie. Take a chill pill guys and settle it down. The Passion of the Christ got less hate before it came out........for

1) Trailers and photos are put out to generate interest. Are opinions of this material only valid if the generated interest is positive?

2) We can't all afford to see every movie. Therefore some degree of judgement of the material released has to be formed.

3) Some of us are fans of the material. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or a complete movie to see that the tone and casting is wrong. Some have admitted it may be a good 'other' movie in and of itself but an FF movie? I don't

4) Opinions do not change just because time passes. The opinions are not old. They are just the same. Why would they change at this point? There has been little to alleviate the expressed concerns.

The negativity against this movie so far, MovieManiac, is so out of whack it's ridiculous. The trailer is practically a tease, there's no money shots, action sequences and half a second of the Thing. I've read comics including the Fantastic Four and with the alternate time lines, reboots, zombies etc and have zero clue why people are so pissed off. Why not have Herbie the robot? Why not have Susan Storms best assets her tits instead of her brain? Allwhite, allwhite...we'll "lighten" Michael B

I just think it's sad the amount of negativity and cynicism on here that isn't justified. As I said before, for all I know it's a steaming pile of garbage BUT judging by the tiny bit of footage I've seen so far, how can I possibly make that judgement?

Phoenixman78 - To be honest mate (and I say this with respect), I think its all relative. I feel that what has been shown is enough to see that the tone is not there. I feel that the people that are pro the movie are just as passionate as those who are not and that's okay. We all have our thoughts about it and it is justified in that it is how we feel. That's cool. You know what? I also reserve the right to have my mind changed. Should something come to light that turns it all around (I

I'll gladly and humbly say hey, turns out I was wrong. My stance is easy - I don't like what I've seen. Give me something to change my mind. Maybe they will.

Finally and again with respect - 'allwhite, allwhite', is not necessary. I feel the racist rebuttal IS tired, especially as many on the site have in the past explained very clearly what they feel the problems are. It very rarely has anything to do with racism. Would be good if we could drop that one. People have used it as a bit of a cheep shot and it keeps MAKING racism the issue when it isn't.

To be honest as far as age is concerned its Bell and Teller that look too young for me. Mara looks the most like her character going by the trailer.

Something tells me secret early screenings weren't favorable so they just gonna reshoot some scenes with the new costumes added in.

Oh hey I guess I'm not the only one thinking that.

I've got it on VERY good information that the comic book costumes were added as a last ditch effort to try and "please" the fans. They were part, supposedly, of the last reshoots did for the movie after very negative test screanings with studio exces and focus groups. My source might be wrong, but it's been right pretty much every single time to date. But, again according to an inside of mine, even the more comic bookish costumes won't be able to save this train wreck. There is even a rumor

There is even a rumor going around that the sequel has been announced only as a way to show false confidence in the movie, trying to help it win some "street cred" before it comes out.

The only servicing the "fans" deserve is some harsh truth. They abandoned the comic book and stopped buying the title, so much so that Marvel had to cancel the whole series. Yeah, I can see you guys just love the source material so much.

Go do a little digging online, you'll find out that the book hasn't been cancelled because lack of sales. What's more will be the lack of tie-in products products released for the new Fantastic Four movie. Same as the X-Men movies. I could explain why, but I'll let you do the research!

John Matrix - I have heard that rumor a lot, but it surprises me. From a business standpoint, why wouldn't Disney want to make profit off of the publicity coming from a big budget movie? It seems vindictive and a tad ridiculous that they would rather "hope to get their properties back" instead of cash in on guaranteed revenue.

Oh-oh! Oh-oh!

I can see some backpedaling... backtracking... but guess what? It's already too late! Not that many people are going to be lining up to watch this.

A headline you'd think the fanboys would rejoice at. Low and behold they're digging in their heels. Who would have thought?

"After the pair of Tim Story directed FANTASTIC FOUR films, it seemed apparent that fans didn't want a version faithful to the comics"

No. Just no. The Tim Story movies were just bad. Bad movies with bad scripts and miscast actors. They didn't know if they were supposed to be movies for kids or if they were supposed to show Jessica Alba's cleavage prominently. Nobody wants a bad film, faithful or not and Trank's deviation from the source material will be a different problem but it will still

I'm posting this on a neutral rating since Teller's comment is to my memory the first time anyone involved acknowledge the fans have to be pleased. It's quite late in the game for that, and he's still miscast but at least he's finally a little aware.

My conspiracy theorists mind detects that the inclusion of the classic costumes may be the part of the reason they needed to recently do reshoots. The bad fan reactions to the look and general blahs feeling over the film says this films in trouble.

Yes. I am so glad he feels concerned to actually have the characters in their actual iconic suits and not some bullshit black suit that all of them seem to be wearing (minus the Thing).

At no point in the production of this movie do I think anyone considered the views of the fans. I'm not saying this will make it a bad movie, but don't pretend like you were concerned about pleasing the fans when really all evidence would point to the opposite.
