Thank You For Your Service Jason Hall Miles Teller Banner

Last month we brought you word that AMERICAN SNIPER writer Jason Hall is set to make his directorial debut with a movie adaptation of the David Finkel non-fiction novel Thank You For Your Service, and now The Wrap has learned that FANTASTIC FOUR and WHIPLASH's Miles Teller is in talks to star.

Hall is also writing the script for the Dreamworks film, which "follows three U.S. soldiers who return from Iraq and struggle to integrate back into their civilian lives with their families since they are still haunted by the horrific memories of war." Steven Spielberg was considering directing the PTSD drama, but after reading Hall's script, Spielberg suggested he direct it himself.

Teller doesn't have a deal in place yet, however insiders tell The Wrap that he "has been determined to tackle more serious material as he tries to move on from the media circus surrounding Fantastic Four and get back to focusing on work."

The actor has several upcoming films, including the INSURGENT sequel ALLEGIANT: PART 1, Todd Phillips' ARMS AND THE DUDES and Ben Younger's Vinny Pazienza biopic BLEED FOR THIS.

Sounds like the sort of role that would be fairly ideal for Teller. So far he lacks the effortless presence of a blockbuster star, but The Spectacular Now and Whiplash have shown he has a knack for playing flawed and damaged individuals.

No shit. You don't say? I mean did you really expect him to make a sequel to FF? I am not the least bit surprised by this news. It's almost a no brainer. I think that whole cast is looking for dramatic roles to distance themselves from that abomination. It's just the smart thing to do. Now... I've been following this film for a while now and it sounds like a great story. I personally know a couple guys who served (friends of mine) and they came back fucked up to say the least. I've been following this film for a while now and it sounds like a great story. I personally know a couple guys who served (friends of mine) and they came back fucked up to say the least. Songs like "The River" by Bruce Springsteen detail the tragedy best. Thumb me down all you want for what I'm about to say but after seeing Fury I would love for Shia Lebeouf to play one of these tormented soldiers. The guys not as bad as people make him out to be. With that said, I can never forgive him (or anyone involved) for Kingdom of The Crystal Skull ...

I know everyone thinks Fantastic Four is a piece of shit (I haven't seen it, so I have no opinion). But regardless of that flop, Miles Teller is a pretty solid actor. I would be signing on to all the meaty roles I can if I were him. Ensures he stays in the spotlight instead of being forgotten about b/c of FF.

"follows three "actors" who return from junkets and struggle to integrate back into their civilian lives with their families since they are still haunted by the horrific memories of the Fantastic Four."

I haven't read the book, but this sounds like it could be an interesting poignant look at how our government abandons our veterans once they return home from duty. This definitely needs to be spread out there.

I'm still surprised that none of the new Fantastic Four cast care to comment on the failure of the movie. Maybe I miss a few interviews. Still, I can't see the charisma / attraction of Miles Teller.

Maybe they feel it's no point to trash a movie like that. A) it'd be beating a dead horse B) stating the obvious C) might look bad to future "employers" to trash their past jobs. kinda like on job interviews - doing talk crap about past jobs etc, stay positive.

I don't understand the appeal about this guy. Other than Whiplash (mostly due to Simmons terrific performance) I can't stand him or have been impressed by anything else that he has done.
