Minka Kelly gets to play Jackie O. in Lee Daniels’ The Butler

I can’t wait to see a trailer for Lee Daniels’ THE PAPERBOY starring Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman and John Cusack. Right now, the film is being screened at Cannes for those lucky SOBs in attendance.

Next up for Daniels is THE BUTLER. The film stars Forrest Whitaker as, “Eugene Allen, the White House butler who served eight presidents.” A nicely rounded out cast is involved and includes Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey as his wife, Mathew McConaughey as John F. Kennedy, John Cusack as Richard Nixon, Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan, Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan, and Cuba Gooding Jr, David Oyelowo, Lenny Kravitz and Terrence Howard.

Daniels let it slip that the lovely Minka Kelly was signed on to play Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Daniels said this about the film, “I connected with it because it is ultimately a father son story with a civil rights backdrop. In my lifetime there were separate water fountains, swimming pools and toilets for blacks. People forget that. This is such an exciting journey for me.”

The director starts scouting for locations on Monday and will begin production on July 16th.
