Moore's next topic? | Movie News
Michael Moore has apparently decided on his next documentary subject, which is, drum roll please...GAY! Dammit. I fear I'm being too simplistic. Let's delve into this a little. Moore aims to tackle homophobia in the States and specifically the way it manifests in the Christian right. The following is taken from a conversation Moore had with The Advocate:
“I think it’s a very ripe subject for someone like me to make a movie about. Simply because we are not there yet and it remains one of the last open wounds on our soul that we are not willing to fix yet,” Moore told The Advocate. “There is nowhere in the four Gospels where Jesus uses the word homosexual.’ The right wing has appropriated this guy … and they have used him to attack gays and lesbians, when he never said a single word against people who are homosexual. Anyone who professes to be a Christian and does that is certainly not following the teachings of Jesus Christ.”
I want to be careful here. I have my own opinions on this matter, but I'm not about to start a moral and political firestorm in the talkback section (although maybe it will be healthy for us to discuss something other than cleavage and sequels). All I'm going to say is that Moore should have a rather easy time at making those on the right look quite absurd. He will cut into them like a butcher into horse heart. Presumably, gay marriage rights will be a huge fighting point in the movie, and Moore should have no problem dealing with that. I hope he follows through with this.

Keep calling the kettle black and lets all take our private jets to Dharfur and pass out bottled water in non-recycable plastic bottles to the starving. Why can't you all do this too you damn common folk with real jobs?
Rant is done.

The New Covenant also takes a stance of homosexuality, in several places such at Timothy and Jude. But since this is not Sunday School, I'll stop now.
The bottom line is, as Christians we should not judge people, only God is the judge. While the bibile may say homosexuality is wrong, it is a sin to say that Gay people go to hell. Everyone has free will, and God will decide in the end (or Allah, or natural selection, or whatever you believe).
I just hope ole' Mikey doesn't use the old "Conservative Christians are redneck racists that kill animals for fun" and maybe show Christians that don't judge people. (Interview me Michael!)

I see him as a person with a camera and an opinion, and he's not afraid to voice his opinion. no one is forced to believe what he says or thinks. granted, i find many of his opinions kindred, but not necessarily all of them. i thought he was reaching a bit with some of the points he was trying to make in 911, but i was certainly down with the overall message of that film.
i respect him for standing firm on what he believes and translating those beliefs to his actions on film and off. he is a showman, but you kind of have to be if you're making films. he is also a real person who wants to see things change in a specific direction for his country. i admire that.

And he's doing it again! I'm not a homophobe and I do believe we should all be treated fairly but it does talk about Homosexuality in the bible and it does speak out against it! So what is this Documentary going to be about? Taking shots at the other side, reaffirming hatred in America under the guise of exposing hatred. If perhaps Michael Moore was more tactful in his approach and used the powers of persuasion maybe people would accpet him as a true documentarian. Moore forgets this one simple principle:
"A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still."

I think Moore will do a bang-up job. I don't deify the guy but he's been pretty spot-on with his approach. People who are in the far right walk around saying anything they like and while some people might think they're crazy, no one stops them because it's OK to be a loudmouth Conservative.
People only hate Moore because he's

People only hate Moore because he's a bleeding heart liberal who isn't afraid of a fight. I say... about damn time.

Good for Moore. If people like him keep targeting key issues and forcing change, maybe we'll have a livable country someday.
