More Bourne!

10.16.2008

Amnesiac superspy and government pawn Jason Bourne is on his way back for more globetrotting espionage.

While it's been rumored ever since THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM scored meaty box office, Universal has officially put a paid writer at the keyboard in the hopes of getting star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass to commit in ink. The pair has been only considering a return, and will decide whether to do a fourth (and so on) based on the strength of the script.

Screenwriter George Nolfi, who co-wrote the last BOURNE (and OCEAN'S TWELVE), is at work on a brand new story -- the previous trilogy was based (however loosely) on the series of novels by Robert Ludlum.

Extra Tidbit: So I guess now the old claim of "It was always intended as a trilogy" comes with the asterisk of *"unless the third one makes crazy cash."

As long as Greengrass is back in the directors chair, I say bring it. But can the camerawork be just a liiittle less shakey this time?

I don't know how they'll do it

We know who Bourne is. He knows who he is. Tony Gilroy has gone on to greener pastures as an Oscar nominated writer-director. That actually is a bit of a shame, but probably unimportant in the grand scale.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, who does Bourne have to fight? And why? Is it CIA? Is he co-opted to fight some terrorist organization or something?

I thought the driving force behind the Bourne movies was that he doesn't really know who he is, or what's going on. What happens now

treading on thin ice

This will either be a big-hit or miss, coz I thought Bourne Ultimatum closed the series nicely. What's left to do?he knows who he is & the one behind the whole operation, taken names and kick-assess, etc.

So next one will probably be about how he became Jason Bourne so the action would be replaced lots & lots of training and a mock-mission.

Or Jason Bourne goes on a rampage and kills everyone in the agency from the field agents to The Director and finds out Joan Allen's character is

Or Jason Bourne finds out he has a kid and tracks him/her down while kicking-ass along the way in an attempt to have a "normal" life.

When I first heard about a fourth Bourne movie I was a bit skeptical because I REALLY ENJOYED how they decided to end the trilogy. I thought The Bourne Ultimatum was the best one out of the trilogy and kind of find it difficult to see how they can top Ultimatum. The Bourne movies are some of my favorite movies of all time and would hate to see the previous three be ruined by a crappy fourth film. I have a lot of faith in Damon and Greengrass and hopefully in the end they do end up making a

Actually....................

They still haven't done the second half of the first book. Wherein we find out that David Webb became Bourne to smoke out an international terrorist. If they can use that in the sequel that would be interesting. Plus an explanation of Bourne and Nikki's "relationship" would be a good thing to explore.

I thought the last Bourne was the weakest of the three, regardless of how much money it made. I wouldn't care if they did like Bond and got a new Jason Bourne all together. Hell, I wouldn't care if they just stopped at three.

Hey, there's a lot worse series they could be milking out. A lot of people consider the third one to be the best, so why are all assuming the fourth one's suddenly going to suck?

Bourne is Over

The filmmakers don't have anything left to "loosely" adapt so what could this movie really be about. I loved the three films but by the third one, I was getting a bit sick of Bourne attempting to find out who he was. He knows now. What's left? We already have a James Bond and it's back to being good, we don't need another wannabe. Damon should try something else.

I hope they go with the title Damon kicked around doing publicity for the third film: The Bourne Redundancy.

...I liked United 93 too much to want Greengrass to waste time making more of these flicks.
