More Inglourious

Nov. 4, 2008by: James Thoo

A bunch of new pictures from the set of INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS have hit the web and you can check them out over HERE. Also, Tarantino.info have a video of some filming, where Frederick Zoller's character is sniping American GIs. You can check that out HERE.

How are you guys feeling about this flick? I personally feel like the more Brad Pitt and the Basterds, the better the film will be. Although that Tarantino can be so batshit insane and still make a major motion picture is an incredible achievement in itself. If he delivers this thing on time and on budget he should get a freaking medal.
Extra Tidbit: Oh man, for a moment there I actually forgot Mike Myers was in this. What a bummer.

Give MM a chance

QT is great at casting folks in his movies. MM was very good in 54.

QT has been solid for me with maybe the exception of some films he's recommended. This seems like a change up for him, so I'm curious as to how it'll turn out. I don't understand the Mike Meyers shitting upon because it isn't like he'll be wearing a wig and running around cracking wise at the camera. And count me in as a Death Proof fan. The cinematography alone was ticket sell enough.

Roth's a hack

agreed on the Roth comment...i hate when people put their friends in movies just because they are friends. when you do that you ruin your movie...Eli Roth in this movie takes it down two notches automatically. Im still trying to figure out how some people like Roth are even allowed anywhere near a movie set.

Mike Myers is actually very talented. He should just stop doing all these lame characters in movies. People just aren't into that kind of humor anymore. What was funny in the 90s just isn't funny anymore.

I think you meant it's a bummer that Eli Roth is in this. Mike Myers is awesome. Roth can't act for shit.

But, I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

I'm inclined to agree with numberFIVE on this one.

Despite some fucking awesome fight choreography, I've never thought that either of the Kill Bill flicks met the standards of Tarantino's other work. I much preferred vol. 2 because it marked the return of some pretty slick dialogue, but vol. 1 had some of the most awful dialogue I've ever heard.

And don't give me the "It's an homage to old kung fu movies, the dialogue is meant to be bad" argument either. I've heard it a million times,

Death Proof was okay. It was fucking great when Kurt was on-screen, but the rest was a fucking bore.

I'm holding out hope for Basterds, but if it sucks, it might prove that Tarantino is a relic of the 90s... Kind of like Kevin Smith. To me, Zack and Miri more like an imitation of a Smith movie. I still enjoyed the shit out of it, but all of his best work came out in the 20th century.

numberFive, Kill Bill and Death Proof might have lacked in substance but they sure had a lot of style. This one, on the other hand, has such a bunch of characters and history and ambiances, its got to be at least as complex a story as True Romance. Add to that the historical setting and the war against the Nazis...and Pitt being some kind of hillbilly maniac! I believe this one is going to be his big opus one. And give Myers a break, he can act really good when he wants to.

The more I think about this film, the less sure I am about where I stand with it. I loved Tarantino's first set of films, but then lost most most all of my love with the unbelievable turds that were Kill Bill. Out comes Death Proof, for which I feel to be one of twelve fans, despite it not being up to par with anything else he's done (in ways). I don't know, really. Inglourious Bastards will either make or break him for me.
