More join Inception

May. 5, 2009by: Daniel Barna

The most anticipated film that no one knows anything about has got to be Christopher Nolan's sci-fi thriller INCEPTION, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The plot is being kept tightly under wraps but by now we're all familiar with the only little nugget they've given us so far: the film is "set within the architecture of the mind. I'm not sure exactly what that's supposed to mean, but I do know that with the recent casting of Ken Watanabe as a villain who blackmails Leo's CEO-type character and Tom Hardy who's been getting rave reviews for his lead performance in the Sundance smash BRONSON, this film's prospects just keep getting better.

The two thesps join the already announced DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page. With Nolan at the helm we have no choice but to keep our eyes firmly planted on this one.
Extra Tidbit: INCEPTION will be released on July 16th, 2010.

I read the script, and -

it's going to be pretty freakin' cool. When you see it, "architecture of the mind" will make a lot of sense. Also, the draft I read was written by Chris Nolan alone.

It's one of those kind of scripts that when I read it, made me think that he probably took it to WB pre-"Dark Knight" and (like they did with "The Matrix"), the execs probably said something like, "Yeah, Chris. We REALLY like it, but... Um... What the f*ck is it?"

Several times, while reading it, I had to turn back a few

Several times, while reading it, I had to turn back a few pages to understand what the hell was going on, but that's because it jumps around a lot... It won't be a problem once the visuals are there, and there're a lot of great opportunities for CRAZY cool vfx.

Also, there were far fewer cast attachments when I read it - now that I know who's playing what, I'll probably read it again.

I can't wait to see what he does with this.

We need more Watanabe!

So that's 2 people from Batman begins Nolan will have in this movie (Watanabe and Murphy). This is going to be one of my most anticipated movies.

Definitely an intriguing batch of actors. Having a little trouble picturing Leo as a CEO, but Watanabe is just the latest good reason to see this thing.

Ken Watanabe is grossly, grossly underrated and underused. He's leaps and bounds past playing villains - he deserved the Oscar for his performance in LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA.

But, he's a damn fine actor, so he'll do this role well.

Amazing

Ken Watanabe kicks so much ass. The Last Samurai is one of my fave films and that cast is too good to be true. Can't wait for more info.

Sounds like Nolan is making a movie on scale with The Dark Knight, but in tune with a psychological thriller like Momento. Count me in.
