More moon terror in the latest trailer for Apollo 18

Jun. 24, 2011by: Dave Davis

The "found footage" assembled into APOLLO 18 is apparently so top secret, they've been trying to decide if you should even see it. The movie was originally planned for release this past March, then April, then moved all the way to next January. But now it's slotted for September 2... Unless it changes again. Mystery!

The synopsis: Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972, was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it's the real reason we've never gone back to the moon.

I actually want to see this, for the only reason that I really love space movies and am super sad that the shuttle is almost retired.

I've said it once . . .

. . . and I'll say it again. If you're going to do a "found footage" movie based in 1972, it's got to LOOK like footage from 1972. The space program back then used crappy cameras for video recording, and everyone else was using super 8 film at best. This looks like it was shot last week. So much for the "hey, this is a REAL conspiracy" aspect of the marketing.

Fire Duece. I'd have preferred it if the first two Transformers movies were robogasms of violence. Instead we got hipster douchebags, pot brownies, and racial minstrelry that'd make D W Griffith seem enlightened.

for a second i actually thought this movie was legit then i realized oh this is just another found footage clover field paranormal activity rip off except on the moon. Its possible it could be good but its more likely to be boring and dumb and predictable. Trailer again gives way too much away.

I hate you "Blair Witch"

Maybe this will be good, but found footage is bullshit. It's almost as bad as shaky cam which screams they're trying to hid things.

great, but...

...and I say this as a big fan of the "lost footage" genre, the trailers kill the movie. The last shot of the trailer with the astronaut getting dragged away is probably the last shot of the film. I still want to see it, but the idea was enough to sell me, I wish I had seen less.

YES!!!

It's the movie I WAS getting excited about before it turned out I was watching an early Transformers 3 trailer!

I'm serious, btw; I think this looks pretty great. As long as it doesn't try to ape Paranormal Activity too hard, I'm looking forward to it.

Terrible trailer

I told myself, "if there is even ONE bad reception-like flashcut I won't watch it". Had to break that promise as soon as it started. Very predictable. And it bored me.
