Strike Back below!

We know that Jason Segel has an affinity for puppetry -- in case this wasn't clearly demonstrated by the climax of FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, he also plans to revive Kermit, Fozzie and all the fabric characters made popular by Jim Henson, THE MUPPETS.

Disney is assisting Segel in bringing his dream project to life (as much as a hand in the ass of a felt creature can do), along with MARSHALL director Nicholas Stoller... and potentially every famous person Segel knows.

Segel is still working on the script, but it apparently includes plenty of room for cameos as he tells MTV: "I’ve told all of my friends that I’ve written parts for them, but I have way less friends than you imagine."

Still, those familiar faces could conceivably include (speculation alert!) any of Segel's comrades from the "Apatow Gang" (Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, James Franco, Bill Hader, etc.), "HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER" chums like Alyson Hannigan or the great Neil Patrick Harris, or MARSHALL's sexy ladies Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell.

Either way, there's going to be a whole lot of foam rubber and flailing limbs, and (thankfully) not much male frontal nudity.

Mmmmmm
I am with Madine on this, this is old news....I actually hoped there might be more information on what he actually has planned for the Muppets, but obviously not. Must be a slow news day I guess.....

This is not news. Segal working on this script was announced a while ago. So why this rehashing of old news, JoBlo? The Muppets are great, but they have had a bumpy way of it movie-wise for the past 15 years or more. Here's hoping Segal can make it great.

Bjork Bjork!
Segel is the best man for the job, and anyone who's seen Sarah Marshall can confirm this. He can knock them out of their Muppets in Space, Wizard of Oz slump. I've got really high hopes for this one. I wrote a pretty lengthy piece on this right here (under "10 Ways to Knock the New Muppet Movie Out of the Park"): [link]

Can't Wait
I'm glad someone is bringing the muppets back. I hope it works out well and lasts for years to come. There aren't many shows better than the Muppets.

I'm hoping they at least bring Jeffrey Tambor back for a cameo if nothing else.

Oh wow this could be golden. Will it be directed towards us adults though? Like will the Muppets swear and drink? Haha.

Jason Segel's Muppets
I can't wait to witness Segel's vision for a new Muppet Caper on the big screen. I'm there no matter where he takes us, as long as it's not Manhattan!
