More Philip K. Dick

05.12.2009
Halycon Co, who own the entire Philip K. Dick estate, will produce a big-screen adaptation of his 1974 novel "Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said". Set in a futuristic, dystopian world, "Tears" is the tale of a celebrity who wakes up after an assassination attempt to find no one has ever heard of him. Obviously, tons of films (both successful and not) have been made out of Dick's work, MINORITY REPORT being my favorite.

This whole thing is in the very early stages of development, so there is nothing on talent involved. I'll speculate that it might be Vida Guerra who ends up top-lining though, because I happen to have this picture of her on my desktop and that both saves me some time, and does you a favor.

Extra Tidbit: THIS draft of MINORITY REPORT that was never used, is my favorite screenplay that I've ever read.

yea!

Loved pretty much all the PKD adaptations, even the unsuccessful ones. Get a good director on this, like Aronofsky. He would work well with PKD

I'll say it

Personally i'm a huge fan of Paycheck, Affleck aside its a great story and Eckhart is great in it for his smaller part.

Cool

Yeah it's a fantastic book.
I have no idea how it will work as a film though.

I adore Flow My Tears. My favorite PDK so far by a longshot. They'd better find a good director because, similar to Ayestrain, it's tough to imagine it in film form.

I think Imposter is one of the better ones, maybe not as good as Blade Runner or even Minority Report but it's up there.

Great book..

One of the better PK Dick books that I've read is "Flow My Tears..". I don't know how coherent a movie it'll make though.

Wouldn't mind also seeing adaptations of "Lies Inc." and "Radio Free Albemuth".

Although Minority Report is excellent and spectacular there's just something about Total Recall that makes it my favorite...er...Dick adaptation.
