More Wolvie pics!

Dec. 2, 2008by: Mike Sampson

The first official trailer (outside of the Comic-Con teaser) for X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE will premiere next week in theaters with THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. There are reports though that an official version of that trailer won't appear online next week or perhaps even the week after (you can expect numerous bootlegs on YouTube). So to help tide us over for some online Wolvie action, there are five new pics from the film online at SpoilerTV. Before you start to worry, there are no spoilers here. In fact three of the pics look like screengrabs from the trailer itself. Click on the pic below to head over and see more facial hair and sharp claws.

Extra Tidbit: No offense to Tyler Mane but they should've gone the Liev Schrieber route for the first X-MEN movie.

@TheCanadian

I agree that Blob and Gambit really have nothing to do with a Wolverine origin story, but Deadpool was created by the same Weapon X program that created Wolverine, and in fact, they took some of Wolverine's healing factor and put it in Deadpool, to cure his cancer, so, in my opinion, it makes complete sense to have him in the movie.

Forget Cotton Weary, drop him, throw Triple H in there as Sabretooth. He did a great job as sabertooth in Blade Trinity.

Although...

I do agree that Leiv should have bulked up a bit for the film

why

is everyone so hung up on the continuity of the Sabertooth character between the 2 movies...I pray to god they completely ignore the fact that "Sabertooth" was in the 1st XMen...he sucked...he is supposed to be cunning and vicious...not some mute brute a'la Bane from Batman and Robin...plus, he looked retarded...Leiv looks much more like Sabertooth and much more like a realistic character at the same time...he is the only character aside from Jackman's that i am excited about for this

dogtags

There's also the little part about Sabretooth taking Wolverine's dogtags in the first movie (and the back and forth about "This is mine") so at some level there is a hinted history between the two.

Although the initial plan from previous scripts was that Sabretooth took the dogtags as Magneto's machine was powered by adamantium and needed something to test it with (ie. the dogtags). So yea i guess Xavier was right in assuming that the Brotherhood were really after Logan. :p

Sabertooth

Both actors are good in thier own way, I thought Mane had the look over the performance and Liev is the other way around, I can't wait for this movie, I've been waiting patiently but now that the trailer is less than two weeks away I'm all hyped up again, I'm gonna have to go see The Day The Earth Stood Still!

Liev

It seems that the more I look at Liev the more I think he looks like Sabretooth. Perhaps Sabretooth will become more animal-like after the Weapon X project. That would exaplain his appearance in X1 and why he didn't really talk.

Because Hugh Jackman was training for this part for years and played it three times before, so he should have the build. And Leiv Shreiber was added later, so he had less time to train. I don't know. Maybe that's it?

@ IQuitMrWhite

That's pretty much why I wanted Tyler Mane back as Sabertooth, because he IS a big dude. I've heard people speculate that he will be huge in the movie, but not until after he goes through the Weapon X program.

@ crookman, I see where you're coming from. I believe you're speaking in regards to acting talent? Well, Mane doesn't have much a resume in that regard (although I thought he was fine in TROY) and he really can't be blamed for how Sabertooth was written in the first X-MEN. I'm not

I'm not sure why they went that route, perhaps to make him seem more animal than human? If so I think it worked fairly well. But I think Mane could have done a good job in this. Schrieber just doesn't seem like a Sabertooth to me. But we'll see how he does and I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Yeah, we'll see. I'm on the fence. This was more evident in the bootleg trailer and earlier set pics, but why is Hugh ripped and Liev looks just ok? Sabretooth is supposed to be HUGE

Got my hopes up that new pics hit the web. Those were all in Empire ;D

In regards to Wolverine and Sabretooth not knowing each other in X1... It always looked to me like, at the instinctual level, both suspected there was more. Besides, Weapon X tampered with ALL of their subjects' memories, not just Logan's.

Don't get it

Why does everyone keep saying that wolvie and sabretooth don't know each other in the first movie. They can easily get their memories wiped at some point in this film by the Weapon X program. Bang! Now they dont know each other. Anyways I always got the sense that perhaps they did know each other, even if they didn't realize it, in the first movie. Its just something about Wolvie's first reaction to Sabretooth that seemed to give me that feeling

Actually, Tyler Mane should have also been Sabertooth in this. He did a fine job in X-MEN. Schrieber is no Sabertooth. But, as always, I'm happy to be proven wrong.

Much like the new terminator, this movie could go either way. Its hard to get a sabertooth vibe from that picture, but Schrieber is generally great so I'll just have to wait for the trailer.

how?

how can sabertooth now talk when he could barely in the first movie? And how do they explain that neither one of them knew each other before or have had run ins before, bc in first movie he didnt know what x-men were or magneto and he had been that way for a while. He didnt find it strange that a half man attacked him in the snow after his car wrecked, he must have been following him but how did he keep up with ihim and how did he know he would be there?

yeah i think this'll be a good flick. i really really hope it is. after dark knight....my standards are super high now...which is good. however, that could be bad (having standards TOO high), b/c i may not be satisfied again. kinda like receiving a really good blow job from a certain chick. all others after it from other girls are only so-so. after a certain point...you just don't care about receiving them anymore, b/c for whatever reason the original chick that gave you the really

the name's Logan... BUB Logan

Awesome pic of Schrieber! Mane looked the part but basically played Creed like the missing link in the first X-Men flick. Here's hoping Schrieber's acting chops flesh out Sabretooth's claim-to-fame as Wolvie's nemesis.
